On our departure we have an 8:30 am flight leaving from John Wayne Airport.
I was wondering if anyone has used Super Shuttle or Karmel Shuttle to get to a early morning flight? did they get you to the airport on time? suggested departure on shuttle is 5:45am but I was wondering if I should choose an earlier departure because we will be sharing the ride. $30:00 for SS and $51.45 for Karmel Shuttle for same service.

We had a 9 am departure from SNA and picked the latest option with SuperShuttle which was 620 am. We were there in plenty of time.

Time of day is irrelevant for Super Shuttle, since it operates 24 hours a day. If they give me a choice of pick-up times, I always choose the latest. They tend to be pretty conservative with regards to travel time.

You will be fine. Super Shuttle has always gotten us to the airport on time and we always do the shared van ride. Usually they only pick up about 3 groups and they are all from the same or very nearby hotels. John Wayne Airport is a very quick ride away.

Don't forget that they also get to use the special lanes for carpooling, taxis, etc. I've never had a problem getting to the airport too late, only too early!

We have used Super Shuttle 3 times with no problems at all. In fact, on the last trip they showed up 10 min before the scheduled pick-up time.

I used Super Shuttle for my flight back yesterday (and getting to my hotel on the 28th) both without a problem. I had a 9am flight and chose the 6:25 shuttle and was at the airport by 7am. Which was plenty of time before my flight. My shuttle picked up me + 2 other parties from the same hotel for the airport.

The trip there I was the 2nd of 4 stops. Still under an hour from on the shuttle to at hotel and that was great for me.

Prime Time Shuttle offers the same service and usually at a lower price. Double discount deal right now going on if you need a round trip. http://primetimeshuttle.com

I almost always find SS the cheapest fare. According to their website, the RT cost of Prime Time is $9.75 each way with discount for online reservations. Using the code UYR59 on SS gets you a fare of $7 each way. However, if there is more than one person in your party, be sure to do each reservation separately or you will get $6 off per party instead of per person (RT). You get a discount of $3 off each way with the above code. The regular fare on SS is $10 each way. There are many coupon codes out there and you can Google to find them, but the one I mentioned above is the best I've found.

BTW, I always tip online so I don't have to bother with having cash for it on the trip.

Thanks for the code and tip!! I'll see if I can apply for the discount.
