We are heading to California the first week of January and anxiety has taken over so i gotta ask a few questions:
Our first day at DLR will be the 3rd of Jan so as to catch the ends of the Christmas decorations before they come down..... so cossing fingers that they wont take them down till the 5th right?

Crowds: I know students are out till like Jan 12 so it will still be really crowded, are crowds still generally smaller in January than the crowds im hearing about recently in the October posts or will it be wall to wall people?

How long will it take to do all Disneyland have to offer including hopping over to CA in January and how many days at each would you advise?

This is our first trip to California in general, so we have never been to DLR so any place we should not miss(ridewise, foodwise, or otherwise)?

Thanx for your time :)

I'm going on Jan 2 for one day and I don't know what to expect either. However, our schools start back on Jan 5th and I imagine many do. So after the weekend it may get better. Normally, I would say at least three days for DLR and I think I would still say that to allow for time to also shop at DTD. My guess is Monday the 5th will be much less crowded.

I'll be going Jan 4-9. We often go in early January and find it a great time of year crowd-wise. The majority of schools are still on the traditional 2-week Christmas break which would have most of them back at school Jan 5th. The school where I work takes a three-week xmas break, and so we don't return until the 10th. We are the only school in our area that takes three weeks, but this is a growing trend. Still, we've been finding that week to be a good week for DL as long as you avoid the Jan 1-2 as there are still lingering New Years crowds.

We were there two years ago Jan 3-9 and had a great trip. LOW crowds. Just make sure you check the Disneyland website calander so you know when IASW and HM will close for the overlay removal. They will not keep it open any later than what is on the website. Make sure to get those in before they close. I would always say you need atleast 4 days in the parks to get what you want to get done

Yikes! I hope everyone is going home after New Years. Jan 2 is the only day we can go since we are all on the school schedule. I guess we'll just have to go investigate! I don't have big plans for getting on many rides. Just want to see HM and IASW. And I'm thinking that after the fireworks we will want to be anywhere but on Main Street. Other than that- no plans.
