I know that it is still way off, but I was hoping that someone here may have been to US/IOA durring the first week in June last year, and might be able to warn me what to expect as far as waits go. Also, what time do the shuttles usually start to p/u guests, and what time do they stop driving us back to the hotels (Im hoping that I wont have to leave the park before it closes, but dont want to be left behind and paying cab fare)

You don't say where you are staying. If you are staying at one of the on-site hotels you can walk to the parks. They have boats that will take you to CityWalk. Everything is in such close proximity. If you are staying off site, those hotels would have their own shuttle schedules and you'd have to check with your hotel.
Also, if you are staying on site, you won't have to worry about waits because you'll have the automatic express access.

If I were splurging for onsite hotel, instead of 5 day vacation I would only have 2 days (inc a four hour drive each day :()

You would have to call the hotel your staying at and ask if they even have a shuttle to the parks and their time schedule. As far as waits in the parks go I know that my area doesnt get out of school till the end of June. The south I'm sure gets out earlier. Try and check some posts from last year the same time to get an idea of waits. Have Fun:)

Yes, schools around my neck of the woods typically get out at the end of May or early June. I don't even think of going to theme parks from June to August, lines scare me. LOL

With 5 days, and just 3 parks (IOA, SW, and USF) I am not exactly worried, just wondering what to expect. I will contact the hotel about the details of the shuttle service, and backlog the trip report section for June. Tx for the suggestions =):bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Last day for public schools
Orlando - May 23
Tampa - May 29
Daytona - May 28
WPB - June 3
Broward - June 12
Miami - June 11

1st week of June should be ok. Locals may be around, but the big season is from July and the 1st two weeks of August. Offiste hotel shuttles are unreliable. I suggest you park in the TGIFridays parking lot, located across the street from parking garages, next to the HolidayInn, and walk. If you get to the park early each morning before the gate opens, you get 1 lap of walkon rides before the crowd hits. It's amazing how most of the crowd arrives at 10 or 11am.

I'm going March 29-31 staying offsite, but I'm not worried. I'll be at the gate by 08:30am each morning.

Most Southeastern state's schools let out the end of May through the first week of June. Count on crowds especially on the weekends. We were there the first week in June of 2002 and were deluged by rain so the crowds were not as awful.

Be aware that the first week of June is "Gay Days" at Disney and probably Universal too. I typically avoid the parks during that week. It's probably nothing to be worried about if you already have reservations but there will a lot of red shirts around.

I have been to WDW durring first week of June once before, and the only prob we had was DH was wearing a red t-shirt that first morning. He couldnt wait to get into the empourium and repalce it. For him, tollerance of alternative lifestyles and being suspect (even by strangers) of having one is 2 whole different subjects. We'll leave the red shirts home this time around:jester:
