I thought I had read somewhere that guests of GCH can get into DCA before it opens to the public. Is that true? And are any of the rides open? Thanks!

If you are staying at any 3 of the Disney Properties then you are allowed to get into DCA 30 min earlier entry trough the entrance at GCH (so you would get in 1 hour before the park then they let DCA guests in 30 min. before the park opens.) This is to allow you to get the Fastpasses for WOC. When we were there I don't recall any of the rides being open until the actual opening time. Also make sure you have your room key for each person with you, they do check for it before letting you in to the baggage check area. Hope this helps :)

In addition to getting WOC FPs, you can ride Soarin' (which usually opens between 9:00 and 9:30), get Soarin' FPs, and ride Little Mermaid.

When I was there last month, we were surprised that the line to get in was back to Whitewater Snacks around 9:00am. We were actually going to Whitewater Snacks for breakfast and when we came out the line was gone and we got in quick. Got our WoC fastpasses and then headed to Soarin.

During our stay 9/8-12 the early entry time was only 45 minutes early. The one day we used early entry, they started letting everyone through right at 9:15 (10am opening). We were toward the end of the line, so got in at nearly 9:30 -- plenty of time to walk onto Little Mermaid twice, ride Soarin, and be toward the front of the group for Toy Story rope drop.
Most people make a beeline for World of Color fastpasses, so if you'd rather ride LM / SOC quickly, do that first!

We just returned home from our trip yesterday (sniff, sniff) and used this option once. We were staying at the DLH and went to the GCH entry, waited in line to get into CA early--rode on Little Mermaid, then exited back out the GCH exit (the park was still closed) and went over to DL and were there in time for gate opening. Peter Pan was our first ride of the day at DL. :)
