Early Entry - Is it really just for park guests?

I can see that depending on the day, the park and the time that you go, people are having different experiences about the resort ID checking, but I can tell you it's not worth waiting an hour to an hour and a half for the park to open if they are checking.

They check tickets and resort ID's at the TTC to get on the monorail and boat. They check at the turnstiles at the gates. We held them up at one park before we got to the turnstiles. At another, we showed them as we put our ticket in the machine. At another, we had them out but they weren't really checking. They had people yelling out to have both tickets and ID's out and ready. But if you are playing by the rules, you aren't trying to sneak in when your priviledges don't allow it, are you? ;)

To MaryKatesMom, did they actually ask for your resort key or did you just show it to them automatically? just curious. Also, did your children have to show theirs too? I've used EMH for 5 trips now (thats 5 different years) and never once did they ask for the resort key, so strange. I am really interested in whether I have to bring all three of our kids cards with us now. Thanks.

When I went last year in January, the only park that checked hotel keys/IDs was Epcot... and they didn't have the gates blocked off well anyways, people were sneaking around into the line.
