Hi,

On various trips we have rarely used the early entry system when staying on-site (too early for us!).

This time, as we have less time to 'do' the parks, we are thinking of making use of Extra Magic Hour as much as possible. However, I've read in so many different places about how much more busy the parks are on EE days and was beginning to wonder whether it was worth the hassle. How much more busy will the parks be? With 20 odd thousand Disney resort hotel rooms will it be even busier than arriving at the usual time on a non EE day?!

Thanks!

Richard. :)

Richard,

The consensus seems to be that you should take advantage of EE and then hop to another park if it starts to get too crowded. From what I've read, both here and in various guide books, it will definitely be quieter during that first hour with the crowds building up by mid-morning.

We definately took advantage of it :) We managed to do all the major rides in the morning. Then we either stayed for lunch and a parade or hopped back to the hotel for the swim :) Worked great for us.

It may depend on the time of year. We went last November and planned to use EE as much as possible. The plan started off working fine but I did think that the parks seemed to be much busier than the previous November when we stayed off site (so our plan avoided EE days).

We then had to change our plans a bit as DW was not well for a day or so and changed to none EE days - crowds disappeared and the parks were back to the same deserted places they had been the previous year.

If we went again at that time of year I would avoid the EE days entirely, get the extra time in bed and be sure to be at the parks at opening time.

The first day we tried EE, I couldn't believe there weren't far more people taking advantage of it! We've been converted to using EE whenever possible, and have usually managed to do all the big rides / attractions on our list within the first couple of hours in the EE park. But we then switch parks by lunchtime.

We can spend the rest of the day enjoying a more laid-back approach in the second (and third!) parks (which we'll blitz on their EE day another time), without feeling we're missing out on the action.

Consequently, we're big fans of the EE approach :teeth:

Thank You for all of your replies :)

I think we'll take the general advice and visit the EE parks early until early afternoon then head back to the hotel or a different park. I just had dreadful visions of thousands and thousands of people flooding throught he gates an hour before opening!...

Thanks again!

Richard. :)

Just wanted to agree with everybody else, it's well worth taking advantage of the early magic hours. It looks like theres a lot of you but once you're thru the gates everyone disappears! Our our early magic day at MK we did 9 rides in under 2 hours, which was great. We'd done all the rides we wanted by 12 so headed off elsewhere so I'd heartily recommend it. There's not so much open at Epcot and MGM but you still get in a lot quicker than normal. At the first showing of MuppetVision 3D at MGM, there was only 5 of us in there.
