Early entry for Harry Potter question

Used to be a regular on this forum many moons ago. Haven't been to Universal since the first Harry Potter land at IOA was in its early stages of construction. Is early entry to the Potter lands for onsite hotel guests a year round perk, or only during some/peak times of the year? At what time are guests admitted?

Year round, onsite guests get in one hour before regular opening. They announce hours just a few weeks ahead. They don't always alternate. It was the same park listed as early opening for 6 weeks when we were there.

At least one park is guaranteed to open 1 hour early for onsite hotel guests. The last few summers both parks have opened early for July. They don't alternate. We stayed for 7 days and IOA was the one open for EE all 7. Did rope drop over at USO half the time as did not need to EE every day in the same place.

Always one park has EE
Depending on crowds, the other could be added

No set pattern to it

Oh, that's another thing I did not know. I thought BOTH parks had early entry everyday...so it's only one. We'll be there on 12-15-16 and 12-16-16. Any thoughts/guesses (historically speaking) as to which park will allow EE on those days? Thanks!!!

There are dates in December that has both parks with EE

Look at threads from last year to get an idea of when that starts

Just thinking off the top of my head
Dec 25 thru the end of the month has had both parks with EE

According to the calendar at https://www.universalorlando.com/Resort-Information/Early-Park-Admission.aspx for the dates you listed IOA has the early entry starting at 8:00.

Early entry for both parks (which starts at 7:00 am) is the 19th - 31st
