Early Easter 2008

Help! After much juggling and figuring, we scheduled our trip to
WDW for March 5-12, 2008. Then I realized that Easter is March 23. In 2007 it's April 8 and in 2009 it's April 16. Why oh why? The guidebooks say the two weeks before and after Easter are terrible.

Anyway, we really don't want to change the dates. February and the first few days of March are out because of an important school function. And while it would be nice to get away from the snow in Jan. (we're from Wis.), we really don't want to risk the weather being too cold for swimming.

Does anyone have any insight into what the first week or so in March is like when Easter comes early?

Actually, Easter is April 12 in 2009. It was April 16 in 2006.

As for the early Easter next year, I'd guess that the week right before and the week right after will be busy because many sping breaks and Easter vacations will overlap. It does get progressively busier from Presidents weekend til Easter but Mar 5 - 12 might not too bad.

spring break will be the week of Mar 10th but some schools i hear are bumping it back to the same week as Easter. I think your week will be alright the first few days except maybe the last few days as people arrive for March break!

I don't know about the first weeks of March. Our break is the first week of April in 2008 - I'm hoping some of the Easter crowds will be gone by then since Easter is so early ... I'm just going to prepare for the worst (crowd wise) and hope for the best.

Good attitude. I think I'll take your approach. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that the school breaks won't really kick in until mid-March.

I'm hoping they don't change the breaks either. I think in Canada (ontario) they won't so I'm still hoping that between March 5-12 it will be lighter at the beginning and heavier near the end. If not then my kids will be taken out of school early and we leave the last week in Feb. instead. Still planning on the 5th though.

I could care less about being in WDW for Easter, but I do want to be there for DH's 40th birthday which is March 16th. Right now I think we will try to go March 11th-18th, and hope that the really big Spring Break crowds will hit later than that.

Yep, and my dad's birthday is the 12th so we want to be at WDW for that. To be honest, I think I'm going to subtly prepare the family for the possible craziness by emphasizing how great the resort pool and other non-theme park aspects are. We're there to escape the cold and relax and be together, so if we go in with that mentality rather than we have to go on every ride, then this just might work out after all even if we're mobbed.
