They have already closed our local schools today! High schools at noon, middle schools at 12:30 and elementary at 1 pm!! My friends DD said they already told the kids to be prepared to be off tomorrow as well. No official announcement on this but they are saying on the news that this has the making to be an ice storm similar to the one that struck here in Jan 94!! :earseek:

The kids here have not been to school at all this week. I thought WE were supposed to get that ice storm last night. I can't drive in this stuff :(

My kids have been out all week, too. It just started to sleet/snow again. I hope we all go back to school tomorrow. I need to get my life back to normal!

We're already getting freezing rain here. I'm working from home today and was planning to run a few errands during lunch. When I started sliding down the driveway on the way to my car I decided that probably wasn't such a good idea and came back inside. I'd go get DD at pre-school now but she'd be napping by the time I got there. I guess I'll just wait until after nap and get her before things get too much worse. Stay safe everyone.

My DSs' district got out at 1, the district I work in was out at 2.

I just watched the weather channel and we are supposed to have 3-5 inches drop here in the next 1-2 hours!! :earseek:

I have no idea what will happen tomorrow. As a teacher, I would rather have an entire day of school or no school. Delays really take a toll on children and adults alike.

Hey KarenB, looks like 7/3 is the teacher cruise!!
I had snow days today and yesterday; my kids had a 2 hour delay yesterday and a day off today. There was icing for a couple of hours right around the time they have to make the decision about closing--my district called off at 5:15, which has to be a record for early! Then they called for 2-4 inches of snow but it all went north (second time this week the snowfall predicted was way off  ) and now we will only get an inch or less tonight, so it's back to work tomorrow.

LOL, Colleen! DS said the same thing, but I told him he still had to do his homework!!

I sent DD to school this morning with an overnight bag and air mattress since they never cancel classes at her school. She'll stay with one of her friends in the dorm.

I hope she thinks to give me a call sometime

Oh and Karen and Robin, I'll be sure to save some shrimp and keep the ship warm for ya! :teeth:

We are supposed to start seeing the snow somewhere between 7 - 10 p.m. tonight. Dh leaves for work at 11 p.m. and I just hate these nighttime blizzards :( . I doubt there will be school around here tomorrow. At least that means more money in my disney fund since I watch a couple of kids when school is out.

Stay safe everyone. Just think, spring is right around the corner (hopefully).

Hey Robin.....our countdown is slowly ticking away!!!! Once we get through these long winter months you know time will fly!!!! I have a picture of the Magic in my desk drawer! No "work" talk on the cruise though......well, maybe just a little!!

CRB#33.....thanks for thinking of us! Too bad we can't meet in passing (disembarking/embarking)!

The snow is falling here but no school delays yet.

Karen

Hey CRB, I need a brunch ressie for Palo on Monday, think you can handle that on your way off the boat??;)
Karen, my sister and her husband are also teachers, so I'll try my best to make sure you never hear a word of education talk on that ship. Although she wants to go back and take classes to be a curriculum director! Can't think why.
They never announce delays here until morning--so I always have to at least be awake enough to turn on the TV, even if I can go right back to bed. They only do it the night before in case of really, REALLY serious weather--blizzards, -20 cold, etc.
