Early December Trip - Questions

My daughter (age 25) and I are getting ready to do our first on-site visit 12/3 to 12/7. We will be staying at Cabana Bay. I’ve been to Universal before but this will be her first time. I have a few questions I hope someone can help with.

1) We booked a package that includes three-day two-park tickets but we will obviously be on-site for longer than 3 days. I assume I can upgrade these tickets but can you tell me if I can do it somewhere at the hotel or is there another place at the parks besides the ticket booths? I’d like to avoid the ticket booth chaos first thing in the morning if I can.

2) What’s the best way to get from the airport? Should I just grab a taxi? Is there a taxi line? What should I expect to pay? We don’t need a grocery stop or anything so I don’t think I need to pay for a car service – but not sure of the cost comparison? (Never had to think about airport transfers before - Magical Express has me spoiled I guess.)

3) She has expressed interest in going to Sea World for the day. Is there a shuttle bus from Cabana Bay that goes there? If so, is it free? She also wants to do the private penguin tour – can I book that through the concierge at Cabana Bay or do I just do that once I’m at Sea World?

4) What’s the coffee situation like at Cabana Bay early in the morning – is there someplace besides Starbucks (not a fan) to get a large coffee? Can we bring our coffee into the parks with us?

That’s all I can think of for now. Will probably think of some more as we get closer. Thanks for all your help!

We are doing a quick trip in December (ds & I). I was able to rent a car for only $70 for our 4 days. It was cheaper than any other transportation and I like the idea of a car. Check out the transportation board for some discounts.

Taxi ride from the airport is going to be about $48-$50, without the tip. There could be a line for cabs at the airport, but we didn't have to wait. To get back to the airport, the Royal Pacific had cars from a car service waiting (the valet said they are there 24 hours a day). That ride was $55, not including the tip.

That's a good deal, especially if it includes all taxes and fees. But remember if you stay onsite you have to add the nightly parking charge, plus of course some $ for gas.

We are using Tony Hinds for our trip in a couple weeks. It's about the same price as a taxi would be, and I know he will be there (many here use him every trip). We are staying at RPR and don't plan to do anything offsite.

I can't answer your ticket question, but I'm not sure you'll need more days, especially if the 3rd and 7th are your travel days. Especially if you plan to spend one day at Sea World.

It's not a busy time, so three days at the park could well be plenty. We find it's more than enough time to see everything we want.

Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in on the ticket and coffee info. Have fun!
