Hello Friends!

I'm planning my next visit to Disneyland and I'd love to hear your thoughts! I'm planning a Sunday day-trip :drive: probably morning/early afternoon, and the two days I'm thinking about are December 4th or January 15th. Thoughts?

I'm mainly interested in what you think crowd levels will be like, but I'd love to hear any pros/cons for either day.

Thanks!

:dancer:

Crowds will probably be lighter in Jan BUT, no Christmas, more rehabs(HM an IASW will go back) and shorter park hours.

Dec 4 is Candlelight pocessional weekend and Jan 15 is MLK holiday weekend. I would say Dec may be slightly better since people in Jan will be sticking around for another day instead of heading home.

I agree. Also many CP people will show up in the PM for it and have less effect on the early hours.

Thanks everyone, I hadn't even thought of the processional. I've never been to that, but it sounds like fun!

What do you think about the next weekend? (Sunday the 11th.) Would it be less crowded that the 4th because there's no processional? Or is it so close to Christmas that it would be nuts no matter what?

I think the 11th will be worse. But not yet nuts.

You won't be able to go to the processional. There aren't tickets to it--and the park closes early due to it. (I don't know if you were thinking you could attend?)

I would go the next weekend if I were you--because then you would have full night time hours in the park.

We are going around that time too (Dec. 8-10). We have been many times around that time, and the parks are so easy to get around in and so enjoyable due to lighter crowds.

If they are closing the Park due to the CP, this is a new thing. We went last year and the DL was open until midnight. There are no tickets, but we could grab a spot in Town Square to stand and watch. We actually saw it in DL on Saturday night and in Epcot on Sunday night. We actually enjoy DL's version better. -- Suzanne

Oh--you are probably right, Suzanne. I just thought since you needed tickets to see the CP, that they closed earlier (like for the CM parties).

What was it like?

You can see it without tickets if you stake out a spot on main street ALL DAY

Adults can walk up about half an hour to an hour before if they are comfortable standing for the performance in a group of people. You will not necessarily be able to see everything, but you will be able to appreciate the processional, the reading, the orchestra and the choir.

I am not sure I reccomend it to those with kids. To avoid being part of the pack, you will need to arrive earlier. However, there is only about 2 hours between the end of the first show and the second show (which I think begins at 8), so there is a limit to how long you can wait for standing areas. A line forms down Man Street for hours for the very limited number of seats fo both shows.

We had a good spot with my 8 YO neice a few years ago with a view of the sreader. She was bored in about 5 mintues! -- Suzanne

Another vote for December, and I think the 4th will be better, but the 11th will still be doable.

Done and done!! See you on the 4th!!!

How did you pull that off?! I'm impressed!! :santa:

We had a planned trip to WDW with flights out of LAX Sunday morning. We decided to upgrade to the Premier AP at DL before heading to Florida (long story), so we went to DL on Saturday, saw the CP, stayed overnight at DL then drove to LAX in the morning. We weren't planning to see the CP Sunday night, but we happened to be walking past the American Gardens Theater in Epcot when the show was starting and there were lots of seats left, so we stayed. -- Suzanne
