Early December Hours and CM Party

Not having been there yet, the biggest thing that WDW has DL beat on is ability to plan! Only 6 1/2 weeks away from our trip and we still don't know the hours they will be open, show times, etc... As the DL web site gets closer to posting the hours for my dates 12/5 &12/6 (it is painful to watch them fill in one day at a time!). I am getting very nervous. I am especially nervous about the CM party. Does anyone know if the hours are somewhat normal for my two days (open until 8 or 9) does that mean the CM party will be the week after? Can they change the hours after they post them? Thoughts?

The CM parties are on December 12 & 13th. I just called to make my dining reservations and they told me that DL would be closing at 6:00 on those days.

You just made my day, month, and year! Sorry if that didn't work out for you, but we will only be there for two days the 5th and 6th so an early closure would have been really bad for us.

Bummer! We will be there those days, so I was really hoping the CM parties would be the 5th and 6th so that we would miss them! Oh well! Works out well for you. At least we know now so that we can plan accordingly to do CA or walk through the hotels those nights....just a bummer that we will have to leave early on our last night there....we usually close the park!!

They will open early those days so you'll actually get longer days if you park hop to DCA at 6.

Actually, there are MORE hours available to you on those days than if you were to go on a non-party day. They open 2 hours earlier (which makes up for closing 2 hours early, AND DCA is open 2 hours later.

it is nice to finally know and be able to plan. I called to make my dining reservations today and even though the hours for my days are not up yet the CM on the phone was able to tell me. I wonder why they just don't publish them if they are set?

What did they quote the hours to be for Dec 5th and 6th? 9 to 8?

She said DL is 9-9 and CA is 10-8.

Anyone venture to guess what time fireworks will be when Disney closes at 9 pm in December? Perhaps 8:30?

Personally we are always at the parks super early, so if we just end up park-hopping over to DCA that day it's no big deal for us - and we have three days there. But I'm sorry to bum anyone out!

When people say it "opens early" those days, I never thought to ask about the opening hours for CM party days, I was concentrating on closing time. Anyone know what time DL might typically open on a CM party day? I was thinking as a Tuesday it would be a MM day and that we would use our one MM that day, but perhaps not?

8 am with MM at 7. DCA was open until 9 last year.

Thanks! 8am is what time it opened when we were there last December and there was no CM party, but it was later in December (I remember that 7 am magic morning hurt, but was worth it!). If we get there at 7 on the CM party day we'll probably be tuckered out by 6 anyway.

8am openings won't start on weekdays until closer to Christmas. Normal openings on Mon-Thurs are 10am - 8pm. So, backing it up to 8am-6pm keeps the hours equal.

I hate to put a damper on anyone's excitement, but....


I just got off the phone with the Special Activities office about one hour ago (they are the ones handling my reservation this year, not the reservations office) - and they told me that none of the Cast Members have received any confirmation of any CM party dates yet. The girl I spoke to said she knows they will get the official dates soon (by late October/early November) because they have to have time to make arrangements for themselves and invite guests, but they do not have that information yet. No one has been told anything for sure.

I told her that people were reporting on my board that the dates were going to be 12/12 and 12/13 based on what certain DLR CM's are saying, and the Special Activities CM said she just can't say that it's true because they don't have any confirmation. They don't know. She said it's certainly possible that 12/12 and 12/13 could be the dates, but they do not have any official word yet, and everything is subject to change (including the calendar) until they get the "official" word.

She said that whoever it is at DLR that is giving those dates as confirmed is being premature.

So, nobody plan anything for certain yet until the dates are official.
