Early Dec '21 or '22?

So wanted a DVC perspective on this as to when people would rather travel. I am not to worried about the minor point chart differences so throw that out the window.

I really want to get to WDW during the holidays with my parents but my concern is when is the Crowds/Restrictions going to be the "worse" experience. Do we think possibly going in December next year might be preferred as people are still a little gun shy regarding travel with possibly restrictions just starting to go away? Or better in December '22 the issue could be everyone completely back to normal with Disney likely extending the 50th celebration through December '22 (in my opinion) so extra crowds that are flocking to see it before its gone.

Throw your opinion around and why you think one is better or worse.

Honestly I think by Dec 2021 things will be back to more normal and that Dec 2022 will too.

So, IMO, it would be based in comfort level of your parents as well as how important things like parades and fireworks are as those still may be slightly modified.

I think next year will be more crowded from travel rebound. I think a lot of families canceled this holiday season and are already planning on going next year to make up for it. Throw in lingering points and people will be staying bigger and longer. I’m not planning a holiday season until 2023, but that’s because I’m planning Spring 2022 for the 50th.

Tron might not open, but I've done that in Shanghai and there is always next time. The joy of being a DVC member!

I would book 2021, if things aren’t as you like, cancel and do 2022 (assuming you can bank points).

We have been going in September and this time around January next month. I worry about the Holiday crowds haha especially since so many people missed out this year.

My fixed weeks are the first two weeks of December though so definitely plan on more couples trips for sure in the future on and off.

I am leaning towards next December at this point.

It’s also not all about how much is open it’s also for many people also when masks and other rules will be removed. Like being able to eat in at the quick service in the hotels and not take back to room
And other things.

I'm older and my parents are gone, so I am aware of the passage of time. We DVC owners often say there is always next year, but there isn't always next year. As DebbiB said above, you could plan and book for 2021, and reevaluate a month or more out while you can still cancel and bank your points. (My use year is Dec, so I have to decide to cancel and bank by July 31, which is 3 months sooner than I would like.) You will be able to tell more as it gets closer. You might need to ask your parents their comfort level, but that discussion can wait several months also.
