We will be arriving at BWV's between 9 and 9:30am. I know there is almost no chance of getting into a room that early but I was wondering what happens to my luggage and groceries. I will probably only have a few small items that will need refrigerated...will that be a problem?

Am I correct that we can check in, even if the room isn't ready and call back for the room number? We plan on going to our character breakfast and activating our AP's then we'll play it by ear after that. I didn't know whether to plan to stick close to the resort and to keep checking for our room or how most of you handle that.

First trip using our DVC and trying to get all the details ironed out....Thanks!

Don't say there's no chance to get a room that early. We did. We arrived at the BWV at 9:45 am and our room was ready.

I have gone there and had to wait for our room and we also had groceries. They take your stuff in this big room and they will also refridgerate anything for you. They will put your name on everything and give you a card with the #'s that is on your stuff. We were able to go in the room to get a couple of things I forgot to take! They also kept my babies bottles cold for me. I had to show ID and the numbered slip they gave me to get in the room where our stuff was and we were escorted in.

You can check in, and store your stuff and they'll give you a number to call to see if your room is ready. I believe check in is at either 3 or 4pm. I have called at around 2 to see if by chance it was ready. One time it was, one time we had to wait till 4:30. We just usually go and eat, explore the resort. We almost never go to a park on check in day.

Enjoy your first DVC stay!!! The BW is our favorite!!

Thank you! My biggest concern was the groceries. We were going to use wegoshop but since we have the towncar and we'll be there so early I figure we'll just get the groceries ourselves.

I would love it if our room is ready or if they would even give us a choice of rooms that may be ready when we get there. I'm afraid with the celebrations that week that it will be packed and we'll have to wait.

Thanks again!!

they have refrigerators to store your stuff.......i would make sure you go with Bellman to the storeroom and see to it it gets done...........remember to tip him because they will make sure your stuff gets in and stays in when others bring their stuff..........it is based upon a first come first serve basis with respect to frig space.............

Ditto this. I wish I had a dime for every time someone on here posted that they told the bellman that the groceries needed to be refrigerated / frozen, only to find that items had spoiled by the time they were delivered to the room. :confused3

Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure DH goes with the bellman...he's in charge of tipping anyhow! ;)

It's so nice to know that it is a possibility of checking in early.
We have an early flight in and rented a car so we were going to take our time getting to the BW. But now i'm thinking it may be better to just do some walking around the resort and try to see if we could check in early.
It's our first trip to the BWV, we bought at SSR. We always wanted to stay at the boardwalk though.
a little less then three weeks to go. Next week the suitcases will be taken out, then I will really feel like its around the corner.

Just a little tip on the groceries:

Be sure to pack all the cold/frozen groceries in the same bags (paper if possible as the word will stand out) and write "cold" on the outside of the bags with a red marker. It worked for us and made it easier for the bellhop.
