Early check-in time a possibility?

I realize that Disney resorts have a 3 PM check-in time. Was wondering if we can actually check in during the morning hours, around 9 AM, and then wait until 3 PM to actually get into our room. I thought we might have a better chance of a room selection earlier in the day. We could also hang out in the resort and eat lunch until our room was ready (staying at WL so there will be plenty to see around the resort). Does this seem like a good idea or does Disney frown upon checking in before three. Thanks!:wave2:

We checked in early last year at the Yacht Club, the room wasn't ready, so they stored our luggage and we headed off to the parks, the room was ready upon our return. We had no room requests but our room was perfect.

This will happen again for us this year so I am hoping that it will help us with a room request, since they will have most of the day for it to open up. Keeping fingers crossed, but know we'lll love it one way or the other.

Good Luck!

We've arrived early when we were switching resorts and our room was ready for us to go into.
I don't know much about room selection that was or was not available, we usually just request non-smoking, maybe a particular building and hope for the best:flower1:

I have checked in early several times and been able to go to my room right away. :)

Thanks for everyone's posts. We will be driving to WL from Michigan and expect the trip to take a tad over two days. By my calculations, a morning arrival time is a definate possibility. So I thought if we could check in when we arrived it would take care of that part of the arrival routine and perhaps give us some options for choice of rooms. Thanks!:wave2:

You can check in, certainly. You will be issued room keys and passes and whatnot. However, your room may or may not be available at that time. It all depends on occupancy, and whatnot. When checking in, you'll have two choices. If there are rooms available, you can take one of those, or you can choose to wait to wait for a better room that meets your requests.

If your room is not available, you'll be given a card with a number to call. You can call that number anytime to check on the status of your room. Once it's clean, you will be given the actual room number, and you can use your current keys for it.
