Does Disney try to accomodate you with early check-in so that your room is ready for a toddler who needs to nap? We'll be arriving midday and I'm not sure what to do about nap time (normally around 1:00 for a couple of hours) if we don't have a room available. Is there a way to specifically request this?

You could contact the resort the day before and politely request it, but they won't guarantee. Being entirely flexible about room location or room type can sometimes help. Good luck! I'd like early check in for a nap on arrival day for myself :)

Did you do online check-in? Because there is/was a spot on room request for earliest available.
WDW was where our DD's first started sleeping in their strollers, with our 1st DD we did try doing an afternoon break going back to resort for her nap and after 2-3 miserable failing days, we just decided to stay in the park and just walk or pull off to the side and she ended up falling asleep and we never tried again:cheer2:

I requested early checkin through online checkin on the day I was moving resorts during a split stay. We took a cab from Wilderness Lodge to Yacht Club and our room was ready when we arrived at the resort about 11am.

DVC very unlikely. A limited room category like CL possible. A resort with a lot of rooms in your category like POP or POR very possible

I called for a similar reason the morning of and they were able to get me in right away, but it was a “less desirable” room. Was worth it anyway.

My wife used to always blame it on the toddler too! :rolleyes1

As others have said, just make sure you check the first available box when you check in on MDE. And go to the front desk immediately upon arrival. Front desk does see when rooms are available and can snatch one quickly before room ready texts goes out. When we did this, after check in we always went to a QS on the grounds to get a bite to eat and often the room would be ready within a half hour of going to front desk.

If you have a stroller, your child might be able to take a nap there. Depending on your resort, you might find a quiet area for your child to nap somewhere on the resort property. Getting into your room earlier will depend on when you are going and the resort where you are staying.

I have requested early check-in for this exact reason. Sometimes I've gotten the early room, other times I didn't get in until official check in time. If they have the room prepared and empty, they will give it to you. Nowadays with staff shortages, etc., it is harder to bank on the work being done early.

I always request early check and always go into the lobby if I haven't rec'd room ready text when I get there and go to the front desk to let them know I'm there. I always check early check in as my preference. I'd say with WDW hotels I have had about 75% success with my room being ready around 2. With Swan/Dolphin maybe 50%. We were at Dolphin in Sept. with my son's 5 month old daughter and arrived around 2. Room wasn't ready so we just put her in the stroller and went to the park, she slept in the stroller with a fan blowing on her and the cover over her.

We always request early check in and go to the front desk first thing when we get there to see if anything is available. We’ve always been given a room within an hour or less

Where are you staying? Generally, yes you can ask and they do generally try to be accommodating, however if you're staying deluxe and you don't have a room available; you might want to sit in the lobby with your sleeping child. I know it sounds odd, but a cpl years ago we were staying at YC. We had a VERY early flight and were exhausted. When we checked in around 9am; I asked if they had a room available and they said they wouldn't until closer to at least 1pm. My girls and I left and walked the boardwalk. while my teenage son apparently laid down on one of the little couches in the lobby. About 20 mins later my son called me and said he was in our room. I hadn't received a text yet, but apparently they walked over, told him the room was ready and gave him the room number. I don't think they were fans of having someone sleeping in their lobby so I think they expedited our room. Definitely wasn't our intention at the time, but I'm pretty positive that's what got us a room before 930 that day lol.

Maybe try asking when you get there, and if they don’t have a room available ask them where they would recommend to go for a quiet and/or darker place for your toddler to nap. Hope it all works out for you!

We were there last week and stayed at 3 places.

Got our room ready text and email at 2 p.m. @ OKW 2 BR. I had a specific request for on Turtle Pond and close to transportation and were in building 34 right across from the bus stop. Great location.

Got our room ready text (no email) from Saratoga Springs on moving day around noon. This was the day we were worried about as we had tix for Drawn to Life and needed to change before hand so I did click first available and was able to do so because we were in preferred anyway. Was able to take grandtinker to pool for a couple hours before getting ready for the cirque. Our room was in Congress park and had a great view of the balloon.

I booked a TPV room for just the four of us on our last night in order for us to see the fireworks from our balcony. Funny thing is I sent the wife, daughter and grandtinker into MK before early hours and I walked over to check in at the front desk just to let them know we would take the first available TPV. While I was standing in line at the front desk, I got my room ready text at 8 a.m. I quickly took an elevator ride up to room 4348 which was the end room closest to MK on the 7th floor. Loved it! Watched the 8 p.m. fireworks, took a nap and then watched the 11:15 fireworks (christmas party). Was a great night to spend that type of money. Grandtinker loved the room and her own bed. Bathroom is huge!

We used luggage transfer both times and our bags were at each new resort by 1 p.m. Great job Disney!

I think you can get a room early if you don't care where it is. If you are specific it might be later in the afternoon.
