Early check in for special needs?

My sister was using my DVC points a couple of weeks ago when the Atlanta airport got shut down. She was supposed to arrive about midnight, but ended up getting in about 10 the next morning.

She called and explained the situation and her room was held and was ready for her as soon as she got there. This may be different with DVC points as there is no cancellation. I would have been VERY unhappy if they charged me the points but did not provide a room.

It probably is different with DVC points because there is already a 'relationship' with Disney that has 'paid' for the room. They don't have to worry about getting payment.

Where are you flying in from. We also are taking an early morning flight but by the time we get to WDW it will probably be around 11am or shortly there after. Two of my three kids also need that down time. When you get there ask if there are any rooms available yet. Sometimes there are as people with early morning flights home have to usually check out early. I also pack our swim suits in a carryon bag. My kids find a dip in the pool can be relaxing. The check in desk will usually hold your bags for you behind the desk until a room is ready. Because of your special needs you will most likely receive the next available room. Hope this helps.

I was just thinking the same thing about the pool. Check in, have them hold your bags, and if you think your son will enjoy it, go to the pool. It might even be easier to dress him in swim trunks and a shirt on the plane. (my son has trunks that look like they can double as shorts.) Being surrounded by water could provide the sensory that he needs. :)

We are flying in from Newark. We shouldn't be at the resort earlier than 2 pm. And we aren't going during a super busy time so I don't think it should be TOO much of a problem. If it is, he boards the monorail for a marathon ride lol.
