Early arrival at Port

We normally are at PC by 10:45. We have never had a problem with checking our luggage with the porters in the parking lot. Normally in line by 11:00 or shortly after.

This year we have a 10:00 shuttle reservation via the Radisson. I know the terminal normally does not open until 10:30. Will there be a CM/porter in the parking lot to handle luggage that early?

If not, do you just wait there until they come out?

If so, do you check your luggage then proceed to wait in line until the terminal opens?

Charleen I read that but I was curious to a little more info. That thread confused me because I have neverhad to wait at 10:45 to leave my luggage or to get in to the terminal.

When we arrived for the May Repo, something had delayed openning of the port. Those that had already arrived were sitting at a pickup area outside the gates along the main road (but at least under some sort of shade/cover).

So you are not even allowed int he port yet if there is a delay or you arrive prior to opening. If I have it right you are outside of the port waiting at the road in???

We've almost always arrived a little before the port opens, and have had different results.

If you get there really early, it seems that they will ask you to leave.
If you get there and they expect to open the terminal within the next several minutes, you'll be allowed to start a "line" (of cars waiting to make the left-hand turn into the terminal).

Now this seems to only apply to people in their own cars because when the port terminal isn't openned, the parking lot isn't openned, and they obviously don't want a bunch of cars blocking the road.

But our last arrival at the port in a rental-car was a little AFTER I had expected the port to have openned. They have built a pickup/dropoff spot just outside the terminal gates. Anyone that had arrived to drop people off, they were sending to this drop-off spot bordering the road that seperates the terminal area from the "MAIN" parking lot.

What if you just want to park? We don't need to use the luggage drop off area because all of our luggage is roller luggage, can we wait at the parking gait? And when do they usually open the parking lot gait? .... or is there a parking lot gait?

The parking lot is gated.

You have to pay before you park, so you can't park until the attendant is on-duty. From what I've seen, the attendant generally isn't on duty until the port terminal has been openned... but then again, I've always wanted to get into the terminal so that I could drop off luggage rather than haul the luggage from the parking lot.

We didn't have a wait our first cruise but on our second there was a cold customs inspection...where every member of the crew have to leave the ship. We were in the lot across the street waiting to get in for almost an hour after getting there at 10:15.

The offical word I have is this:

If you are traveling by shttle you will be dropped off at the terminal not at the parking lot as usual if you arrive before opening.

You will wait until the gate is opened. You will have to check you luggage there not the parking lot area.

Then you can proceed to the terminal. If it is open you can proceed with your normal check in. If not you will wait until it opens.
