Early AM Flight of Passage Wait time

So it the park closes at 8 pm - what time do you recommend getting in line?

You can get in line right up until 7:59 and will be allowed to ride. I would probably get in line about 45 minutes before closing time in hopes of being able to ride twice.

Keep in mind that the posted wait times are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders. There was a report here earlier this week of a 110 minute posted time with a 15 minute actual wait right before closing time.

If you are in line by 7:59pm, Disney allows you to ride the ride. I would guess 7:30pm would be a good time, because even with long posted wait times at the end of the night, those times are often inflated near closing time to discourage guests from getting in line.

Can you take a bus to get to AK that early? On this trip I'll be driving as I'm leaving directly from AK, but I wondered for future reference if I'd have to Uber.

Hoping these wait times are down significantly for our trip in late January and that I can get a 60+4 FP for FoP....

Try refreshing a day or two before your AK day and see if you get lucky. We did :)
I'm going to do this. And if that fails I'm just going to fall on the sword and wait in the queue so my wife doesn't have to (with rider swap). :)

We arrived at the bag check at 7.45 today and the lines were about 8/10 deep to scan our bands. They let us in about 8.25 and then walked us to the bridge where we waited for 10 mins or so. We walked onto FofP with almost no additional wait and then went straight onto Na'vi River Journey. We had done both rides by 9.15 and the queue for FofP was 2 hours at that time. Flight of Passage was brilliant and worth arriving early for.

Was the rope dropping crowd bad?

Do the CMs walk the crowd of rope droppers all the way to the FOP queue? I'm just wondering if there will be younger, faster people running past and cutting those of us that get there an hour + early?

This is kind of what I'm wondering, too. We are taking our 9 yo niece and her mom so we have to make sure we stay together. Normally, DH and I are able to stay in the front of the pack pretty easily, but that's with just two of us.
