I have an 8:55 Chef Mickey's breakfast ADR on a day when MK opens at 9am. I'm staying at POR. I was planning on leaving my resort at 7:30 but then it dawned on me that buses don't start until about an hour before the park opens. If I get on a bus at 8am, would I have enough time to get to CR or should I take a cab? Trying to avoid using cabs but also don't want to be late for the ADR. Thanks!

Buses start earlier than that. Be at the bus stop no later than 8 AM (7:30 is fine too, just don't think it's necessary) - take the bus to MK. Walk or monorail to the Contemporary.

Perfect thanks! I thought I read an hour before the parks open but I'm sure I'm mixing that up now. So 8am should be fine then? I've allotted an hour travel time from resort to parks and about an hour and a half from resort to park to resort for all my ADRs. Is that too excessive?

With some unique exceptions of course (multiple transfers and things that are extra complicated or just bad luck), I find that an hour works for most things. Since you do have to get to the CR after MK, I wouldn't be later than 8 at the bus stop.

I don't find it excessive under normal circumstances, since you have to rely on Disney transportation. But with the Contemporary, I would just walk there from the bus stop. It's about a 5-10 minute walk, and you're closer to the walkway than walking towards the resort monorail.

As you're leaving the bus depot towards the Magic Kingdom, follow the curve of the walkway clockwise to the right, following the sidewalk with hedges to your left, right under the monorail beam. There should be a sign saying "Walkway to the Contemporary Resort" or something similar.

Everyone else will be heading left towards the Magic Kingdom while you'll just want to keep right.

make sure you are at the bus stop a little before 8am so you get the first bus. Doesnt POR have the internal bus system? That could take longer b/c it makes multiple stops inside the resort.. i stayed at CB and it was so frustrating i'd never stay there again b/c of that. There is also a breakast bus that the resort says will be out to pick you up early to take you to breakasts. I have called the front desk many times and they say that this exists and to go out to the bus stops. Just go to the MK though and walk over to the contemporary. We had a CM early adr too and got the tip to walk but didnt realize how easy it was so we wanted to just stick with the bus so we didnt get lost. The bus driver suggested that we go walk b/c she was stopping at other resorts for breakfasts and CM would be last.. so we got off the bus and just walked. We were surprised how easy and quick it was. Glad we took her advice. Keep in mind the restaurants will hold your ADR for 15 minutes.. although sometimes we have been later than that due to transportation issues. dont forget there are pastries where the dessert area is. i just saw the ice cream area was closed so i didnt go all the way down there and then i found out that there were pastries there.. bummer! Be prepared for noise :)
