We have a 7 AM Chef Mickey reservation and we're staying at the Grand Floridian. Monorail doesn't RUN that early, does it? :sad2: Do we call a cab? How much will a cab for five people cost?

There should be a bus available that early to take you to CM. If the boats are running, you can take the boat to MK and walk to the contemporary from there. Or, take a bus to MK instead. The two resorts arent very far apart, so it shouldnt take long. I would talk to concierge at your resort and ask him whats the best way to get there for a 7am ADR. But there def will be buses running at that hour as i know others who stayed at POP and had a 7am ADR...a bus picked them up at 620am!

Since the Grand Floridian doesn't have any buses to the Magic Kingdom that option is out for the OP. The boats are a good idea however their start time depends on when the Magic Kingdom opens and before arriving there they will first stop at the Polynesian.

Personally I would suggest taking a Taxi because it wouldn't be a long ride and the cost should be between $5 - $10.

Thank you for the resort specific advice!

Um....silly question, but how difficult will it be to hire a taxi that will fit five people? (and bother, I guess this means bringing car seats afer all )

I would recommend having Bell Services call for a Taxi Van so you can have extra room.

I am just guessing, but my guess is that this situation is very common at the Grand Floridian and they are used to dealing with it.:)

Before paying for a Taxi, explain your situation to the Front Desk/Lobby Concierge at Check-In or soon thereafter.

My "guess" is that they will provide some form of Transportation for you to Chef Mickeys.:)
