Early Admission

We have early admission when we are at Universal. I know at Disney we have to be at "rope drop" about 30-45 minutes prior to avoid huge lines. With 8am open at Universal parks how early do we have to be there and not be very backed up in line?

It all depends on when you go. During busy times I'd be there at least an hour before opening. During non busy times, I'd be there about 30 minutes before. The gates usually open 15 minutes before stated times.

I went during a non-busy time and actually got there right after early opening started most times - even 30 minutes after once. And it still helped us out quite a bit. With Disney, we felt we had to be there before rope drop even during non-busy times.
