I booked onboard in March of this year, but want to lock in March of 2017 when it is released. Does anyone know when we will be able to book early 2017 sailings?

It was late October last year when Jan-Apr 2016 were released. I believe it was early November the year before that, and early December the year before that. So sometime late fall; I wouldn't expect any earlier than October.

Enjoy your cruises!

I have a question that's kind of related to OP's topic...

A friend wants to book a Disney cruise for January 2017. Can she pay a deposit now (it's not an OBB), then start making payments once the sail dates and prices are released?

I know she wouldn't get a discount on the cost of the cruise, like she would if she books onboard, but are "placeholder deposits" ($200) available outside of OBBs?

No.

I guess she could book a cruise now and change it when the new itineraries are released, but really why bother with that? Just put money aside for the deposit - if she does some each month until it's released, she could have much more than the required deposit to put down when they are released.

She could put the money into a Disney Vacation Account and save up until the cruises get available. There is even a tiny bonus of getting a 20$ gift card for every 1000 $ spent (with some restrictions).
