I called this morning to book a early lunch at Sci Fi and the Fantasmic Dinner Package at H & V for a party of 13 - Well the earliest I could book a PS at Sci Fi was 12:05 - did they change their hours - i thought that they opened at 11 but the CM said she wasn't showing it open until 12 -

Then the only time I could get the Fantasmic Package was at 4 - Yikes we may have to cancel Sci Fi or make that an ice cream break - I sure do not want to have lunch at 12 and then dinner at 4.

They must've changed their hours. We had lunch there at 11:30 last June. I don't know what's up with the dining hours at MGM. We wanted to do the Fantasmic dinner package, but I can't imagine eating dinner at 4pm in June. And now, to top it off, it sounds like they're opening the restaurants later for lunch. What are they thinking? If things stay this way, it looks like we won't be doing the Fantasmic dinner package after all. No way are we waiting in line for 90 minutes for anything though, so the way it looks now, I may never see this show!

We had a similar situation this past Dec. Dining said first available PS was at noon. But the restaurant did open at 11:00. I can't remember if we called back later for an 11:00 PS or just showed up at 11:00 and they were open.

Regarding the Fantasmic PS, I think that has to be a dinner meal - not a lunch. So the earliest you are going to get a Fantasmic PS is 3:30 or 4:00.

Yes, the Fantasmic PS does have to be dinner. The problem is the LATEST  they will let you book dinner for this package is 4 or sometimes 4:30. I guess maybe there are people who can eat dinner that early, but I just can't imagine, especially in the summer when it's still broad daylight then.

We went to WDW last November and also had a late PS, around 12:45 pm. However, we just showed at 11:00 and were seated immediately. The restaurant did not fill up until around 11:30.

By the way, we also had a PS at 4:15 for the Fantasmic dinner package. Since we have small children we usually eat between 5:00 and 5:30 anyway. Once we got seated and ordered our drinks, we did not start eating until 4:30 or later (just 30 minutes earlier than our normal eating time.) I do not remember thinking that we were eating too early. We may have had some snacks during the show but everything seemed to work out.

Hope this helps,

John

Thanks everyone! If it is open at 11 - we may head that way to see if we can't get in a bit earlier.

Also I see that some people are getting later PS times for Fantasmic - it seems they release later times as the earlier ones fill up. So I will try again soon.

Thanks again! I am almost done with my PS's - just need to call for Cape May Goofy Bfast this morning :earsgirl:

I called for a PS and was told that Sci Fi opens at 12 (or at least that was the earliest I could make a PS). We like to schedule early lunches and so we also wanted an 11 PS but could not. 50s PT is open at 11, however.

We found this situation a lot last trip. (Dec) We like to eat a light snack in the room and then make the earliest lunch Ps. Several places, we were told they opened at noon but when we got hungry early and headed over, we found them open. They told us that they say 12;00 and if attendence is up, they open eary. My advice is to make the earlist PS and them call the night before or that moning to see if there is any thing earlier. Also stop by in the park. We got in ealy every time.

Just another report-

We just dined at the Sci-Fi on Thur. 3/11 and we had a PS for 11:00 which was when the restaurant opened. The sign and menu both confirmed this, as did the slightly snooty CM at the check in podium. Also I had this particular PS made for me by a TA about a month before the trip. We were the third party to be seated and about 25 minutes after, the place was packed. But I also noticed a lot of people were just walking in, making a PS either for lunch or dinner for the same day and there seemed to be a good amount of availability:D

We also wanted to try the Fantasmic package but alas all the meal times were for 3:00 to 4:00 and we just couldn't eat dinner that early
