Is an 11:05 AM too early to make when we leave the ship from our Mediterranean cruise? Really only have a choice of a 10 or this 11:05, otherwise will need to spend a night in Barcelona.

We had the same conundrum...I know the docking time varies and I didn't want the headache of stressing about it on our final day so we're spending the night in BCN and taking the 10 AM the next day. Sorry I can't be more helpful (maybe when I return in 13 days I can give you our experience).

Thanks tink. I really hate to spend the night since I will be by myself. Brother and his family are flying to London and taking a flight the next day home to Chicago. I need a flight home to Orlando, and prefer AA since I have so many miles to use on that airline.

Would love an update when you return. Have fun!

I stayed for 3 nights pre-cruise last year in Barcelona solo and had zero issues. Felt safer there than in NYC where I live.

My sister and I had a 10:45am flight out of BCN when we did the Mediterranean cruise in 2013. We booked the Disney transfer from the port to the airport and we had to let them know upon boarding that we had an early flight so that we could be processed off the ship right when it was cleared by customs. Lines once we got to the airport were very long and it was only because my dad had completed online check-in for us from the U.S., that we were able to at least skip that long check in line and go right to dropping our bags off. There were several security spots that we had to go through before reaching the gate and they were even pulling people to the side and having them open their bags before getting on the plane for one more check. It was pretty stressful but that flight was the only option we had without booking a stay for another night and my sister had to be back in the states to start her school year the next day. I think it is doable but to me a very high stress option that I would have avoided if possible lol.

Thank you Feigned. I have decided to not try to make the early flight. I found a late flight to Gatwick and then a direct flight home the next morning. Gatwick has an in airport hotel I can walk to and from. This way I will not be so stressed and arrive home more rested.

We were in the same situation as we are sailing on the 8/26 sailing. The United flight to IAD was leaving at 11a and we had heard too many comments and with school starting a couple days later we do not have the option of doing a post stay (arriving 3 days early) so we ended up booking a 1:00 on American to PHL and will drive the couple hours.

I would never arrive less than one day before the cruise or leave less than one day after, unless the cruise is from a port that is local to where you live.

How do you book a Disney transfer, is it a bus?

Yes, it's a bus from the port to BCN. My travel agent set it up for me - I'm assuming they called DCL on my behalf. Looking back at the emails, I tried to set it up on the cruise line website on my own but it was not letting me (the option was greyed out).

Laura, I would suggest you say at least one night so your not rushing to the airport with tons of other people. I understand from a previous post that you'll be alone but I've done two solo Disney transatlantic cruises and for each cruise I've spent a week in Barcelona prior to the cruise and loved it.

We always get a 10:30am flight from BCN the day we disembark. We usually get a cab as there are many waiting there, and it's not even a 20 minute drive to the airport
