Earlier Openings Question

We are going in July and might be effected by earlier openings (not EMH) at MK. Does this extend the traditional hour of low crowds after rope drop or does everyone else get there earlier? Also, does this impact meet n greets (i.e. Merida normally meets at 9)?

If I am understanding the question, you are asking if, for example, lines build from 0 to 30 minutes at an attraction during the first hour of operation when the MK opens at 9:00, does an 8:00 opening mean that everything gets pushed up so that the line builds from 0 to 30 minutes between 8:00 and 9:00, the answer is "not really". Not everyone who could get to RD at 9:00 can get to RD at 8:00. The first hour of park operation at 8:00 (even on non-EMH days) is much more quiet than the first hour on a day when it opens at 9:00. During the most crowded times of the year, this decrease in crowding is less noticeable by the time you get to 8:30. But 8:00-8:25 is still markedly different than 9:00-9:25 would be. Make sense?

I would guess that a lot of the 9am rope-dropper types will be there at 8am, but certainly not all, some will still arrive at 9am. And the sleeping-in crowd that strolls in at 10:30am will still be getting there around 10:30am.

The 8:00 AM openings basically extend the 9:00-10:30 "Sweet Spot" by an hour.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the park clears out earlier on an 8 am day than a 9 am day. We visited two weeks ago, and found the lines at night to be quite a bit shorter on a day that opened at 8 vs. a day that opened at 9.
