Earlier flight on Southwest?

We have an afternoon flight booked on Southwest for our upcoming trip (16 days!! . ) Does Southwest allow you to get on earlier flight like we've done with Jet Blue? Jet Blue allows same day flight changes for no fee if done at the airport--can we do the same with Southwest? Just anxious to get to the World!! ;-)

you can move to an earlier flight but you would have to pay the increase in fare if the earlier flight cost more than the flight your booked on.....which I'm assuming it does or you would have switched flights already...this is on wanna get away fares...for business and anytimes fares you can change the same day with no fare increase

Wanna get away fares have advance purchase restrictions. Day of the flight you'll be paying up to a fully refundable fare. Check now. Also try checking for one passenger.

No, if you purchased a non-refundable ticket then you will pay the difference in fare (if there is one)... If you bought EB it will carry over to the new itinerary.

Unfortunately SWA does not allow free stand by for earlier flights.

We were not charged to change at the airport (on Southwest).

We had a 7:05 flight and at 4:15 we were informed that our flight was delayed. I looked online and the 5:30 flight was still on time so we jumped in the car and headed for the airport.

Arrived at 5:00, asked the gate agent if we could switch, and he said no problem. No additional charge. Our original flight was "wanna get away" fares and those prices had increased quite a bit from the time we booked (I had looked into making the change online first and the rate had increased by $150).

ETA: After doing some research, this may have only been possible because my original flight was delayed (even though it wasn't a big delay).
