It's back, until January 8, 2012, at "selected locations" (yes, including The Earl's Downtown Disney location):

THE HOLIDAY TURKEY SANDWICH

- Artisan baked loaf
- Generous layers of roasted turkey
- Hearty stuffing
- Zesty cranberry sauce
- Seasoned mayonnaise

Have you had a HTS this year?

Do you have photos to share?

Will you be having one (or two) over the holiday season?

Share your love for the HTS here, especially for those unable to have one anytime soon!

I love it! A sandwich so good that it commands its own thread! :worship:

I have to admit - I'm not too sure about that cranberry sauce. But we will be visiting WDW in mid-December and I will be sure to try the holiday sandwich. I want to see if the sandwich is truly worth the hype.

I know that Earl of Sandwich cannot fail, it can only be failed (at least around here), but count me as a dissenter.

This sandwich is a mess to eat. The stuffing is too soft, and there's far too much gravy, cranberry "sauce," and mayonnaise for it to hold together. The turkey slabs are too thick and have an off-putting texture. I like bread with a good chewy crust as a rule, but it's wrong for these fillings, so the fillings slide out and the sandwich falls apart. This would be much better as an open-faced sandwich served on a plate and eaten with a knife and fork.

The cranberry is also far too sweet and the gravy is the usual oversalted, canned glop.

Only 41 days until we enjoy another HTS. Two years is way too long to wait between them!

Our experience was that the sandwich didn't fall apart, and everything fit together wonderfully. Then again, we ate them at a table, immediately after our order was ready. My guess is that taking one to go would be a bad idea...soggy time! I'm not one of those "combine all ingredients and eat" type of people, but that HTS is something magical.

We tried to make something comparable at home--once--and it fell dreadfully short of the real thing.

We'll be getting into Orlando about 6pm on Jan 1st and plan on heading right to DTD to hang out, get into the Disney spirit and eat at EOS for dinner. I am thrilled to hear I'll still be able to get that sandwich, I thought they would be done with them right after Christmas. Cannot wait!

:) My Dad had that sandwich on two occasions last week and loved it.

Oh Yeah! I have plans to eat one of these delicious gems on night #1 Friday 11/18 for dinner. I cannot wait. It is so good and second only to my homemade Thanksgiving leftovers turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich. I know why Ross needed anger management courses after his boss ate his Thanksgiving leftover sandwich on Friends. I'll cut someone for eating mine;)

We just got back on Oct 31st from our Drean Cruise and WDW. I had yet another delicious HTS. We are going back in Dec and I hope to have another. Can't get enough. They are soooooooo good! :thumbsup2

We got the sandwiches to go and took with us back to POR via boat, where we ate them. They were a little messy, but overall held together well and tasted delightful!

The gravy definitely causes a "moist maker" effect (if you're familiar with the way Monica includes a gravy soaked slice of bread in the middle of the turkey sandwich that Ross is so fond of on Friends). In this sense, the stuffing serves as the moist maker on the Earl's sandwich. The roll does get slightly soggy, but I think it's because of the denseness of the roll and the way they toast the outside of it that you can pick it up.

Regardless of questionable texture (which I personally don't mind), the flavor is quite pleasant. It gives you that comforting feeling in the pit of your stomach that gradually spreads its warmth through the rest of your body - leaving you in a thoroughly relaxed and carefree state of mind. I believe the cranberry really makes this sandwich special... it's that extra little bit of tangy sweetness that pops out of the other well-seasoned ingredients.

That is so right up DH's alley! We won't miss that one the day after T'Giving! Thanks for the tip!

I tried it last November and fell in love. Ending up eating three of them during our trip. Looking forward to a few more this December!:thumbsup2

Had the sandwich a couple weeks ago and LOVED it. now I didn't have the gravy and cranberry sauce but still loved the turkey, stuffing and mayo. Wish they would add to the regular menu.

:goodvibes Couldn't have said it better myself :goodvibes

DH and I split one of those and a Cobb sandwich. The Holiday sandwich was better but not by much, both were DELICIOUS!! DH isn't even a foodie, he's an "eat to live, not live to eat" guy and he's been talking the Holiday sandwich for a week!

As an aside, I think it's funny this sandwich has it's own thread, with the year! Are there annual Holiday Sandwich threads?

Nope, this may be a first. I just thought that the HTS deserved its own annual thread, much the same as the various resorts. After all, it too is a must-do (or is that a must-eat) destination! :thumbsup2

Oh my good golly that sounds aMMMMMazing! I just have to hope they continue this EOS tradition for another year b/c I would love to try it next Dec when we are there.

This totally cracked me up. I had the image of Ross yelling, "My sandwich!" in my head. Told my husband about it and he asked if this sandwich had a "moist maker" in it. :lmao:

Yep, had mine 2 weeks ago on our trip and it was fabulous!!! ahh, wishing now that I had gotten back there for a second one! - oh well, next year!
