Earful Tower to be Removed from Studios

It was when it was MGM and all its glory having it around still is parading around something from an era that is no longer.

I'm sure we'll have a new icon soon enough with he new park

That is exactly why it should stay. We still have the Castle, the Tree and the big Golf Ball - all original icons. This is original to the park, Tower of Terror is not. If they are keeping Hollywood and Sunset Blvds then it still has a place.

Now I hear they are closing my favorite attraction in HS, High Octane. It was the perfect place to grab a drink and people watch.
The Studios is now a half day park at best, I can't even think of a third FP to select.

Yes, but I'm either driving, in which case my eyes are on the road not the scenery, or I'm on a bus, in which case I'm talking with family and not looking out the window.

Since its not a real working water tower, I wish they would move it instead of doing away with it. maybe place it outside the park close to the front. still, I wont cry about it if it's gone for good, I totally understand the reasons.

My family loved seeing the Earful Tower when driving around DW. While I am disappointed I am also excited to see all the changes. It's been far too long since we have taken long family vacation to DW. Time to plan the next trip!

I am very bummed about this.

But I guess what I am wondering is....why scrap it completely? Disney is (supposedly) all about nostalgia. So, why can't they disassemble it and put it up somewhere else in the park, or even just somewhere else on property. It just seems odd to me that they would get rid of a HUGE part of Disney World history without a second thought.

I understand that things have to close and attractions have to come down...but I still don't get why they don't try to save the really important stuff.

I agree. I really wish that park would have worked as its original intention..... If they would have continued filming shows there that would have been so cool- and hosting celebrity guests. I think it lost its appeal when that stopped. Imagine a backlot tour where the kids got to see some of their fav disney shows being filmed.... It could work for california i suppose. Glad to hear its getting some great attractions, hopefully.

Disney for me is exactly what you did. Nostalgia. Moving the tower would be awesome. I hope they do.

The park worked as its original intention for a lot of years, until they stopped filming shows and movies. If they had kept on doing that and especially if they expanded that then it could've kept going in that form. I just wish I could've seen Mickey Mouse Club filmed there, when I was there as a kid they weren't filming it those times. The backlot tour was great in its original form with being able to walk past soundstages (including Mickey Mouse Club). I also would like the tower to be somewhere on property

I *am* sad to see it go. But considering the ridiculously massive OVERHAUL coming, I get it. When Star Wars and Toy Story are done, this park will not resemble the original concept of "MGM Studios" any longer.

I wish there was still somewhere to see walt's old plane.. ( is there? )

I've always been a little surprised that the Tower of Terror is the icon for DHS. I love it personally but it seems a little dark and not as whimsical as I would expect from Disney.

I agree with those who assume that there will be a new icon eventually. I vote for a giant Elsa or wookie.

You can still see Walt's old plane in the area behind Lights Motors Action but after that closes who knows. I also think the Tower of Terror is a strange idea as the icon of HS. But then we don't go on it though. A giant Elsa would be more frightening to me than that though.
