I feel like ear wax is cloging my ears any ideas on how to handle the problem

Debrox over the counter.
DD just went through this. She had a huge loss of hearing from the plugs. I warmed it under water before I dropped into the ear. After a few days it was lossening.
There are a few of similar products in the pharmacy on the same shelf. But using a Qtip, when it is plugged pushes it tighter.

GNC and other health stores sell ear candles. They clear the wax out. It sounds weird, but it really feels good (if you can get over the fact that you're lighting something that is sticking out of your ear). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear_candling

DH has horrible wax and when it gets bad he goes to the Dr. and she does a flush. I joke around it being a power wash. It clears him out and he's good to go for months.

Just the other night, I was looking at youtube videos about how to use a neti pot to clear sinuses, and that lead to videos of doctors sucking ear wax out of patients ears. Interesting stuff to watch. I'm weird like that.

Really the best thing to do is go to the doctor and have him blast your ear wax out with water pressure. It feels amazing and really gets all the crap out and it will surprise you how well you can hear after.

Go to a ENT doctor and have it removed.

GO see a DR- they can flush it right out. My brother goes 3 times a year for flushes as he has a lot of ear wax. I would NEVER use that candle procedure-you can permanently damamge your hearing with that.

Go to an ENT, not your reg doctor. Dh did that and the dr used the water pressure technique and then proceded to BLOW out DH's ear drum, due to doing it incorrectly.

Yup...go to the doctor. It may be wax clogging you up, or it may be a foreign object or some other innr ear problem.

My DDs have this problem. Our old dr told us to use hydrogen peroxide. You put a few drops in the ear and it starts to foam. Leave it in until the foaming subsides (usually 5 minutes). Then drain onto towel and put in a few drops of warm water which you also drain onto a towel.

This works great and I do it for them every 1-2 months. I have her lay on the floor with a folded towel under her head. I pour a small amount of hydrogen perioxide into a disposal cup and use an eye dropper to put it into the ear.

When it is time to drain the towel goes over the ear and she sits up and tilts her head. The procedure is repeated in the same ear with the water (which only stays in for about 1 minute). Once the first ear is done; the entire procedure is repeated on the second ear.

I having been using this method for years and it works great. We noticed that during the summer they didn't get as much swimmer's ear when the wax was kept at a minimum.

Best of all, it is cheap and requires no doctor's visit.

I had this problem once, about 3 yrs ago. My ear was so clogged up, it was hurting and my hearing was going..that really scared me. I tried the over the counter stuff and it didnt work. I finally went to my regular dr and they got it out..It was such a relief, and I was able to hear again. I have never had the problem since

We have done the ear candle for years. We make our own. Two years ago I had tried everything, the candle, Debrox, peroxide and nothing helped. I could not hear anymore and finally had it flushed by the doctor.

If nothing works, you will need a doctor to flush it out.

My DS had problems a few years ago - his ears hurt him. I took him to his pedi thinking it was an ear infection but it turned out to be wax. He told me to get the OTC ear drops for a few bucks(don't remember what the name was but it was for excessive ear-wax removal). It took a few days to get it all out but it was fairly easy - lay on your side, put a few drops in, let it soften the wax, and then flush out your ear canal with warm water (there's a water bulb/flusher thingy in the box with the drops). It was disgustingly amazing all the crap that came out of his ear!

Or you could go to an ENT and pay a co-pay every time you need to have it done.

Turns out it was a piece of hardened wax stuck on my eardrum which required an ENT to remove. He blasted it with water, used a small vaccum and finally had to go in with small tweezers and pull it off. I would get to an ENT asap if I were you to have a trained professional take a look.

I hate to say it but I don't know what an ENT is nor if my inserance will cover it. My inserence covers very little as it is

ENT is an ear, nose, and throat specialist.

Your primary can do the same kind of blasting.

Yes, a primary can do it. I had actually gone to the primary doctor for a nasty cold/sinus infection and complained about my ear. I should have had him blasted right there because two weeks later and another co-payment it had to be done.
