Hey Everyone,
This is my first post! We are heading to Disney in a few weeks. My five month old will be along on the trip. Do you feel any of the indoor rides are loud to a point that an infant might need ear protection? Wondering if I should buy some headphones.

I'm totally THAT overprotective mommy for even asking, I know!

It is disney and they are known for all the little details. If your concerned, by all means you should get some and bring it with you. You don't have to use them but if you feel it's safer, you have them. Headphones aren't protection though so order some real ones. Just search amazon for "infant hearing protection"

The only ride that I would bring a 5mo on that might be an issue in my mind is Pirates of the Caribbean. There is a spot with air cannons that sometimes feel a little strong. Also just pay attention to where you stopped to watch the fireworks or parades. While speakers are a little hidden, you can usually tell your in front of one.

I took my youngest when he was 4 months old. I don't remember any issues. Maybe for Ellen's Energy you will want to cover ears, but if we did it would have been just using our hands. Having said that, when in doubt, it is better to be over prepared than under prepared!

I would have something prepared if you plan to be in the park for fireworks, but I cannot think of any attractions that the baby could ride that may be too loud.

We were there in August and the couple in front of us had headphones on their baby for FOTLK in AK. I had never thought about it before. The baby wasn't pulling at them so he must have been used to wearing them.

Just got back from a trip with our 6 month old and didn't use any protection. He didn't seem bothered by anything either, in fact he slept through most everything!

when we took our noise sensitive baby/toddler, we used ear muffs that dampened sounds and were comfortable for him. They worked well for him.

Sometimes the PA system on Jungle Cruise can get very loud especially if you are seated right by the speaker/ the skipper yells for dramatic effect. I've seen children cringing/covering their ears, and babies using ear protection. It's certaintly not always loud, but it's the luck of the draw.

that's what Mommy's hands are for.....:thumbsup2

We took both are kids when they were tiny. Like 6 months old was the first trip for DS. We did get him earplugs that mold into his ear for loud rides ( like the old backlot tour) and fireworks. DD was very noise sensitive so she wore them a lot more than DS did on her first trip.

I have gone a few times with my baby this year and my babies in other years. Never felt the need for ear protection. (Missed the date. Glad you had it just in case.)

Heck, I need ear protection for IASW! Eye protection, too, and maybe a good horse tranquilizer.

I doubt that Disney attractions often reach a dangerous decibel level, however they are LOUD. And certainly loud enough to intimidate young ones who are sensitive. Babies often tolerate noise better than toddlers or even older kids, so never assume you are out of the woods until your child has to worry his/her own children's ears.
