Hi Disney experts!
I am hoping to get my DD (at time of trip will be 9 1/2) ears pierced at disney world when we go. Any idea if and where that might be done? Barber shop at MK maybe?

Nowhere on property.I also would recommend NOT doing this on vacation.Newly pierced ears are sensitive and can get easily infected.Between the rides, swimming and sweating I would wait. Why not pick a cute pair of earrings out while at the world and get them pierced when you get home?

When I got my 2nds done a couple of years ago, I was told no swimming for 3 weeks so I would do what RMulieri suggested and get a cute pair of pierced earrings at WDW but wait until you got home to get them pierced.

It looks like you have 7 months til you go. I'd probably get them pierced ahead of time (like soon) and give them lots of time to heal.

Then you can pick up cute one at WDW and she will be able to excitedly switch!

You can change earrings at 6 weeks, but cant do any hanging one until past a year.

Also, just a tip I read and seemed to work. When changing earrings in newly pierced ears, coat the stem of the earring in neosporion and then place it in the ear. It really seems to kill those germies that infect little earlobes easily!

Just make sure you aren't allergic to it. My Mother, Wife and Son are.

Odd thing my mother I think used buy it like Crisco and apply it to our bodies with a putty knife. :goodvibes

Careful with neosporin. It can gunk up and collect germs.

Normal healing time is 6-8 weeks. By the time you change the earrings, the ears should be healed. If they aren't healed, don't change them.

Just like the others said, don't do it while you're on vacation because it will limit her. Instead, why don't you get them pierced now so they're healed and you can promise her to go earring shopping while you're at WDW. I would think that's a nicer experience.

Also, unlike someone above, I do not recommend taking out the earring she gets pierced with to put in neosporin. Just make sure she doesn't touch them at all and you only touch them with clean hands. Taking earrings out and/or moving them can tear the healing tissue in the hole and reopen it.

I highly suggest getting them done about two months before the trip. They really REALLY need that time to heal and she will be so much happier! I promise! Maybe do this as an anticipation of the trip and then when she's there pick out some really nice Disney earrings :thumbsup2 After a solid eight weeks of healing she'll be dying to be able to be able to change her earrings! :rotfl:

KEEP UP THE CLEANING! Pierced ears get infected SO easily and it really really hurts :/

Also, be careful when putting new earrings on. My niece always wearings the mickey studs and they got put on too tight the first time and her skin got ripped off. She had a mickey head shaped chunk of skin missing. If you put them on lose enough you shouldn't have any problems :thumbsup2 don't want your little princess to have that happen!

I agree with other suggestions to do it several months ahead of your trip. Both of my DDs got their ears pierced here at home. DD11 was fine. DD8 had nothing but trouble as she must have been allergic, so I pulled them out. DD11 cannot wait to go down this summer and pick out a pair of good earrings from WDW.
