Eagle Pines lives!!?? ...sort of ...not as DVC!

I wonder why Disney would allow another timeshare on Disney property that isn't a fixed lease like DVC.

Do we know this for sure? I'll bet this is a straight lease.

If anyone can look at that image and say its a good idea, they are absolutely NUTS

you do not give away that type of land to an outside company for ANYTHING

I suppose it's possible they could be leasing the land to FS without actually selling it to them.

I'm not an advocate of this whole thing either as it bothers me the direction this may be headed. It just feels like the company as a whole, doen't want to put the creative effort into imagineering and building projects themselves, and is partnering with others to do it for them and in some cases, totally independent of them.

When I go to Disney World, I want to experience Disney.

Another issue here that bothers me is that why isn't Disney putting that same energy into finishing their own projects on their land before inviting others in?

To me, seeing the unfinished POP expansion and River Country just sitting there rotting away in the Florida sun is very, very sad. :sad1:

River Country especially could be developed into something really amazing. Why doesn't Disney cash in on the POTC craze and develop a pirate themed resort and water park? Anything would be better than letting it sit there and turn to dust.

Did I just sniff glue or did I actually read somewhere that one of the reasons Walt Disney wanted to build a new themepark in Florida was to stop other hotels and stores from crowding around? Like what happened to Disneyland...

There was a longish article in National Geographic a couple of months ago about Orlando and how it came to be -- it was written that Walt "never forgave himself" for not buying enough land around Disneyland.

As to those who wonder why Disney is "giving" the land to Four Seasons - I doubt there is any giving involved, more like $$$$.

But whether it's a good long-term decision or just good for this year's bottom line is another, major question. My own DH won't step foot in Orlando because he hates the sprawl and traffic. I just look beyond that to the moment I enter the peace and relative quiet of Disney property. How long can that last given the value of the WDW property?

One added tidbit that my DH came across in our local Golf Week newspaper, along with the info previously given out ...

One of the existing golf courses will be upgraded into a championship course and the other will be renamed after the Four Seasons brand.

If correct there still will be two golf courses.

Believe that's the "plan". But it means my favorite lunch spot--the Sand Trap-will close.

I would agree. That is a large chunk of land to turn over to a 3rd party. You can fit about 10 Magic Kingdom parks in that space.

A single family home is a free standing structure set up for one family to live in... be is a single mom or a mom and dad with 10 kids..

As appose to a Town home where the 'houses' share walls with other 'houses'
