I posted this on another thread but I don't want it to get buried..

Is it better to go intermediate or Full size? I keep hearing of all these good things on the Intermediate.. is the great things on the full size too? or if I see something I like on the EA can I grab it even tho I paid for Full size.. DH REALLY wants a convertable.. what do you think?

Thanks!

I'm so glad you asked. I've been wondering the same thing. Is the trunk size that much different? Does anyone have an answer?
Thanks :D

I will say this. I used EA last August and all they had were intermediates on the EA. We started loading up the trunk and found our 4 suit cases and 4 carry ons would not fit. An attendant then dropped off a full size Imapala on the EA and we grabbed that instead. There was plenty of room for our luggage.

The difference between EA and reserving a certain size is that you "may" get lucky on the EA and get an upgrade, but there is no guarantee.

One suggestion some have made is to have two reservations. I beleive national does not have a no show penalty until you get into SUV's and Minivans... I would double check this though.

Good luck.

I was concerned last trip because I always do EA, but this time I was using a coupon and wasn't allowed to do EA, plus I had reserved a full-size car. It was as easy as EA, I was just directed to the full size aisle. My options were somewhat limited--mostly gray malibus, but I found one that was red. I miss being able to get a Dodge Intrepid--they had huge trunks.

Unfortunetely EA isn't what it used to be :guilty: No more Lucky finds like converts or suvs - Just plain intermediates.

There really isnt much diff in price between the Int. & full so I always go with the fullsize now. The impalas have HUGE trunks!!!

Another vote for the Impala, not the best car in the world but lots of room in the trunk.

Personally, I've never seen a convertible on EA and only once saw a mini van, and once saw an SUV. I never thought about doing the two reservations. Probably not a bad idea. I usually just do full size (because I can't be sure Interm. will be big enough). However, with full size, when I have seen something in EA that I like better, I have asked and they have allowed me to take from EA.

I would not do two reservations. It is all to easy for the agent to screw up and charge you the higher rate.

If you think you need a full size there is probably NO way you are going to fit in a convertible. I drive one and there is NO trunk LOL!
