Hey everyone,

This isn't about flying to Disney or anything, but this is such a large forum I thought I'd try this question here to see what people thought.

In may I'm flying to Denver, getting a rental car, and then heading to Estes Park, CO for a wedding. I looked at E Z Rent a Car's website, they have a Denver branch, and the prices are great. I'm almost thinking to good to be true...almost like there's a catch somewhere. I've never heard of them and I've never used them before, so I wanted to get some input. What are you thoughts on this company? Good? Bad? Are they a shifty outfit that tries to cheat you out of more money? For instance, in all the times I've rented a car I've never been charge for scratches to a car that's already been on the car, but some smaller companies may be a bit more militant out it. It's that kind of stuff I'm looking for.

Thanks

I've rented from them twice so far, and have a third rental booked for June.

The first time, we did have an issue with the vehicle they gave us. The tire was slowly leaking air, and the tire pressure light lit up as we were leaving the parking garage. We SHOULD have immediately gone back and demanded a different vehicle, but didn't. It was okay for most of our trip, but suddenly decided to go almost entirely flat when we were on our way back to the airport. Luckily, we were able to put air in it, and got to the airport okay. We complained about it, and got an apology and a coupon for 20% off our next rental.

The second time, everything was fine with the vehicle. The woman at the counter when we picked it up was doing a VERY hard sell, trying to get us to upgrade even after declining multiple times, or buy their additional "insurance" coverage by saying that our coverage wouldn't cover everything if anything happened. It was annoying, but we knew what insurance and rental coverage we already had, and what it would cover, so we simply stuck to a polite and firm "No thank you, we are not upgrading or purchasing any additional coverage." We mentioned this in the survey they sent us after we returned the car, and got another apology and 20% off coupon. :rotfl:

Both times, there was an appropriate car ready for us when we got there, and we had no issues with pick up or drop off. The cars were clean and in good shape, aside from the tire issue. They didn't attempt to charge us any additional fees for gas or cleaning or anything else either time. Even when my daughter spilled yogurt that somehow went underneath her car seat and proceeded to bake into the upholstery over who knows how many days and become impossible for me to remove when I discovered it upon taking the car seat out at the airport for our flight home. Oops.

All in all, I'd say there are some reasons they're so cheap. But if you stand firm on declining additional coverage, check the vehicle out before you leave the airport, and contact them at the first sign of any issue, I think they're a pretty good deal. Especially at 20% off. ;)
