i think this is my favorite ride ever built. I was just thinking the other day, I would lose it if I found out it was going to be destroyed. They removed the one here in CA, and I was so excited to find out it was still in FL when I went on vacation. Rode it over and over.

any one else?

I like E.T....it's not my favorite and I do think it needs to be refurbed before too long...but it's a fun ride.

Jaws and E.T. is the last of the origanal rides at USO.I think fans will be up in arms if they got rid of eighter one.. We all seen rides come and go here,E.T. is one that I still enjoy. But like Metro stated,it could use a refurb..

I'm really surprised Universal hasn't refurbed E.T. yet...I mean...they did Jaws a couple of years ago. I don't see them ever getting rid of E.T. but someone needs to spend some cash on it.

I love the E.T. ride, and the queue through the forest is cool too.

However E.T's 'special friends' are laughably bad. Who designed those things, Spielberg's kids? :rotfl:

I love the E.T. ride as well.Love it when E.T. pops up from the basket.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

For some reason, perhaps all of the colorful characters, it reminds me of It's A Small World. When the ride first opened one of the perks of being an AT&T employee was a waiting room where you could relax for a bit, have a soft drink, coffee and a snack then when you were rested and refreshed they would escort you to the front of the line. They used to have a similar room with the same perks at the ride Spaceship Earth in Epcot.

My 9yr old has to sit in front of the basket and this is my wifes favorite ride at US. We always have fun giving different names.

I love this ride. I probably go on it every time I visit and probably one of the best dark rides and queues out there.

Yeah, it's definitely a classic and I don't think it's going anywhere if Speilberg has anything to do with it, he lost the one in USH due to the Mummy but this one is staying for now I think.

It really was amazing, not to take anything away from Peter Pan, but this is kind of like a modern, larger version of that kind of idea, and i still love flying over the city.

I like the ET ride as well but I loved the back to the future ride and I wish they didn't get rid of that, don't know why they did they should of gotten rid of the Terminator ride or the Twister ride

Well, there's a few reasons. First, as far as storyline goes, 2015 is fast approaching and looks nothing like what the ride portrays. Second, it's not as widely known to kids as other movie/tv franchises these days. Third, they wanted a simulator ride and BTTF was in BAD shape to begin with, so instead of the cost for a major refurb, I'm guessing they just decided to get rid of it.

one thing to note, BTTF is still open...in Universal Osaka

I thought this topic was going to say they were replacing it, as thay would be awful news. I think it'll be around quite awhile, though some things may need abit of refurbing to give the ride abit more :woohoo: again.

This is my boyfriend's favorite ride at Universal! He absolutely loves E.T., and he would be heartbroken if they ever got rid of it (as would I). I hope they never do anything to E.T. It's such a classic, and with all the new additions Universal is making, I think they need to hold on to the classics to keep their original market. It's such a great ride, and the SMELL is so fantastic! That damp, woodsy smell. I love it! I hope E.T. stays with us for a long, long time :lovestruc

I think E.T is a cool ride, and we were blown away by the queue themeing the first time we rode it. That said, at the end of the ride, having just come through the "home planet" with all the psychedelic colours my husband and I came to the conclusion that however designed that part must have been on an acid trip.

Last time we went to WDW we rode "Journey into Figment's Imagination",(or whatever it's called) for the first time. I decided that the same acid trippin' ride designers must have worked on that one, too.
