E.T. Conversion

ET is much more immersive and on a grander scale than Peter Pan. I think it's a much better ride. Peter Pan just has you riding over a bunch of stationary objects while you are looking at 20 other cars of people next to you. On ET, there are all kinds of different effects. It's much more unique than Peter Pan.

One could argue that Jaws is more appealing to a wider audience than ET but I'm not even sure about that. I know that I prefer Jaws and still watch it occasionally but it's just more my type of movie.

ET is good but it could be better. It's a little trippy IMO.

Lucky's mom -- i appreciate you filling out your survey pro-E.T.!

I swear we will probably ride it over and over and over because I'm so worried it will go away and this will be my last chance.

They definitely need to do something with it. It's so outdated and lame.

I like Twister and Jaws. I like ET too but it could use an update, or theme change. The cue is almost better than the ride.

I would vote to see Jimmy Neutron go. I am getting pretty tired of motion simulator rides, it is nice to see real sets.

i dont like the movie et, but love this ride..i love the way it smells in there, weird i know

Not weird at all, I don't think I've ever seen a thread about ET without a mention of the smell of the forest.. I too walk a bit slower in that part :thumbsup2

I disagree about E.T. not being up to the standards of the other rides. The only part I can say needs help is the police scene...the rest is very much a quality ride, on par with any dark ride Disney has done in the same style.

Yes, it could use a rehab, but that's minor. The ride itself is still amazing to me.

I am amazed universals are thinking of new attracions all the time. I love it... but not sure how they afford it. wish disney would keep up.

I think ET is a bit naff myself. True its a family ride but I think they could make something much better. Also Twister could go. I actually enjoyed Beetle Juice.

I don't see how ET is any different in those two criteria.

They weren't criteria, just personal preferences of our family. PP is a ride we all nominate as must do when we plan a trip to a Disney park, ET is one I couldn't care less if I never rode again and for the kids it is a ride that they do if it fits the plan but not a must do.

I haven't been back to US California because they removed the E.T. ride!

When I found out US Florida still had it, I was so pleased. If it needs a rehab, I hope they work on that. I don't think removing it is a good idea. Disney keeps around old rides, think Snow White, Small World -- and refurbs them periodically.

I'm still peeved the Back to the Future ride is gone!

As that is my all-time favorite ride, I concur.

At least BTTF gets a decent nod in the preshow for simpsons. I have to admit when I first saw that I laughed and enjoyed the homage. It's not often you really see a good reference to a ride that's been replaced.

As long as Steven Spielberg continues his close involvement with the theme parks, the ride is not going anywhere.

E.T. needs a little tlc but I still think it's a great ride! I really don't think anything at the Studios needs replacing except for FF. I believe they should add more rides instead of replacing them. I love the forest in E.T. it's fantastic! :thumbsup2

Oh, and sorry for all of you PP fans but I think E.T. is 10 times better. :cool2:

I know that ET seems old and out of date, but it was my 5 year old's favorite ride on our last trip in April. I think we rode it at least 4 times. If it is replaced I hope the new ride is a about the same mild type of ride. It was perfect for those not ready, or interested, in the thrill rides.

It was my kids' favorite ride too! And they have no idea who E.T. is.

We really like ET. I ride even when I'm not with the kids. I really like the forest/escape part but have always thought the Green Planet was lame. It would be nice if the first part of the ride stayed ET but the second part changed or made another movie area, kind of along the Great Movie Ride at Disney. However I really like the bicycle vehicle and that wouldn't work if there was a different movie in the latter part of the ride.

We love ET! I'd be very disappointed, if they removed it. I can think of several attractions I'd rather see go 1st. Like a PP, I'm all for adding rather than replacing though.

I LOVE E.T.! Not for the ride...but for the erie (creepy feelgood) Redwood queue and that smell! I love it! I could just walk throught the queue drinking in the sights and smell, then exit before the ride. My peeps think I'm weird, it's a must do everytime. Must get my smell goods on!

I really hope they don't replace it. It's one of the classic movies and classic universal rides and one of the few rides in universal I'll actually go on everytime I'm there.
