E.T. 11 people rescued last night.

Did someone call 911 because they were stopped on the ET ride? Geez. They had to bring a ladder truck into the ride? Wouldn't Universal have its own way to get stranded riders off a ride? Isn't that a requirement?

How long were they "stranded" up there? I wonder if they provided them food and water.

Concerned Dad needs to bulid a shelter for himself and his kids and never come out again.

The news people should be ashamed of themselves.

The drive too the park is probably the most dangerous thing you can do. Everytime I have been down there is usually a fatality from an accident on the way to or from the park. The worst was the firey crash about 10 years ago right outside our condo. Whole family was killed. I drove right past the wreckage on my way to the parks.

Being stuck on a ride is like having to wait in line too long. It happens sometimes. In my 25 years + of going to parks, I have been stuck several times. The worst on the great american roller coastedr or something like that in Atlanta. The track that takes you higher stoped working after about 5 cars were on it. There was never any real danger, but it was hot as hell up there.

If they did, wouldn't they have done so? I wasn't there, but I'm willing to bet the rescue trucks didn't show up as a surprise. There's no indication or suggestion in the story that someone on the ride called, so I would assume Universal did -- and even if they didn't, there would be communication between the responders and Universal.

As for news people being "ashamed" of themselves over this story... wow. Overreact much? It's a simple local story about a ride malfunction. Let's not get carried away and turn this into some anti-media rant... sheesh.

They have edited the original story to now say a rescue team with a ladder went in to rescue the guests.

So Universal people don't even have a ladder now to rescue guests? Sounds kind of weird. I think if rescue(fire department) was there, it means that someone called 911...that's what I have been led to believe. Just like when it happened on FJ.

I'm trying to think where there is no catwalk in ET.

If you listen to the video...they make it sound like a major story. They call it their top story.

Can a ladder truck actually get inside the ride like the article says?

Here's another report that says a rescue team with a ladder was sent to rescue them. http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/ne...get-rescued-from-stuck-universal-studios-ride

Says they brought a team with a ladder -- not a ladder truck.

In any case, the updated version of that story that says Universal called Orlando FD for assistance because they were unable to evacuate one ride car.

That was a dumb, ridiculously overdramatic story. Who was that idiot guy they were interviewing? What did he have to do with anything?

You mean to tell me they were stuck in a seat a whole TEN FEET UP IN THE AIR!!!??? WOAH!!!!! They're lucky they aren't dead.

The story has been changed since the original that I read at 9 am. Listen to the original video.

Yes, it is changed. It is updated. They have more/new information.

I agree there's no drama in this story and the random yahoo is just in there probably because some producer was forced to turn a 30-second story into a 2-minute story -- but let's not rush to blame guests and the media.

Universal called rescue... local media reported on it, as they should. Locals should know when their taxpayer-funded emergency services are being used by major for-profit organizations.

i got stuck on a ride with phamton before.

we had fun and played marco polo.........
of course, we were the loudest.

oh, it was MIB.
we had to walk about a little over halfway out.

so kewl.
it was in the dark and the TM's had flashlights.

We got stuck on Popeye a few years ago about 9:30pm in the dark. It was right after me ship me olive. We sat there for about 20-30 minutes before it was fully drained and TM's came and walked us out one by one.

I think that's why they're always yelling at people to keep their shoes on. Instead of keeping them dry in the bin they want to people to wear them in case they have to evacuate. Nevertheless we always wait until the raft drifts a little ways and then quickly slip our shoes into the bin :rolleyes1

If you can't find your shoes (even in the dark) and put them on in the 20-30 minutes that you're waiting to be helped off the raft, then frankly you deserve to stub your toe. :lmao:

Hmmmm... I'm with the others in trying to picture a spot on the ride when you don't have a catwalk next to the ride vehicle. the only spot I can really think of MIGHT be when you first "take flight" above the patrol car/road block before the hill that then leads to the cityscape with the catwalk next to you.

:confused3
