Wouldn't Universal have its own way to get stranded riders off a ride? Isn't that a requirement?
How long were they "stranded" up there? I wonder if they provided them food and water.
Concerned Dad needs to bulid a shelter for himself and his kids and never come out again.
The news people should be ashamed of themselves.
The drive too the park is probably the most dangerous thing you can do. Everytime I have been down there is usually a fatality from an accident on the way to or from the park. The worst was the firey crash about 10 years ago right outside our condo. Whole family was killed. I drove right past the wreckage on my way to the parks.
Being stuck on a ride is like having to wait in line too long. It happens sometimes. In my 25 years + of going to parks, I have been stuck several times. The worst on the great american roller coastedr or something like that in Atlanta. The track that takes you higher stoped working after about 5 cars were on it. There was never any real danger, but it was hot as hell up there.
If they did, wouldn't they have done so? I wasn't there, but I'm willing to bet the rescue trucks didn't show up as a surprise. There's no indication or suggestion in the story that someone on the ride called, so I would assume Universal did -- and even if they didn't, there would be communication between the responders and Universal.
As for news people being "ashamed" of themselves over this story... wow. Overreact much? It's a simple local story about a ride malfunction. Let's not get carried away and turn this into some anti-media rant... sheesh.
Can a ladder truck actually get inside the ride like the article says?
Here's another report that says a rescue team with a ladder was sent to rescue them. http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/ne...get-rescued-from-stuck-universal-studios-ride
So Universal people don't even have a ladder now to rescue guests? Sounds kind of weird. I think if rescue(fire department) was there, it means that someone called 911.
I'm trying to think where there is no catwalk in ET.
Says they brought a team with a ladder -- not a ladder truck.
In any case, the updated version of that story that says Universal called Orlando FD for assistance because they were unable to evacuate one ride car.
The story has been changed since the original that I read at 9 am. Listen to the original video.

We got stuck on Popeye a few years ago about 9:30pm in the dark. It was right after me ship me olive. We sat there for about 20-30 minutes before it was fully drained and TM's came and walked us out one by one.
