Just recieved an e-mail update from DVC about increase......it is posted below(minus phone nos.), in case other DVC members didn't recieve this.

Dear Nick:

Effective December 1, 2002, the price of purchasing an ownership
interest at any Disney Vacation Club Resort will increase from
$80.00 to $84.00 per Vacation Point.

Although we presently have inventory available for all Use Years
at Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Beach Club Villas,
this situation can change at any time. If you have an interest
in Adding-On to your membership for a specific resort or a
particular Use Year, we recommend you call immediately, as we
have already sold over 50% of the inventory available for
Disney's Beach Club Villas.

Please keep in mind, while an additional ownership interest can
be purchased at any Disney Vacation Club Resort where inventory
is available, the "Add On" must have the same Use Year as your
master contract. Some Use Years will sell out sooner than others.

If you are considering Adding-On, don't forget to ask about the
special Disney's Vero Beach Resort Magical Beginnings down
payment credit offer. It is quickly becoming a favorite among
Members.

Please feel free to call me directly at ------------- for
information about purchasing an additional ownership interest and
special financing rates that may be available for qualified
buyers. I can also help you determine if you have enough Vacation
Points to accommodate all of your future needs, providing even
more opportunities for you and your family to enjoy special times
together. You can also call a Disney Vacation Club representative
at 1-800----------.

If you have family and friends who would like to become part of
Disney Vacation Club, please let us know so they, too, can
benefit by purchasing their ownership interest before December 1,
2002.

I was just coming to post the same thing LOL We just got it too! Over 50% sold... WOW BCV sure are going fast!!!

While this is bad news for future DVCers, It is great news for most of us. Just think how much $$$ we already saved. I bought at $75/pt (not including MB), and have already saved $9/pt!!!
That adds up to a good chunk of loot.

I agree :) , when we bought at OKW in 99 it was $65 pt, and for VB(which we do plan on going to every yr Rich;) ) it was $62 pt.

An increase in the sale price usually means the buy-back price goes up too for those interested in a resale.

Same here, we got in at $67.14 (resale inc closing) & $72 and have no plans to buy more now.

Well, I guess $59 per point in 1994 -- with free park passes throught the end of 1999 -- wasn't such a bad deal after all.

I found it very interesting that our "guide", who has not had any contact with us since we purchased two years ago, has his name at the bottom of the email. I have a new email address in the last few months, so it is clear that DVC is matching the sign-up for member email addresses / names with the guide records. Hope he's happy when he gets my return email that says I'm not interested as I purchased another 150 points via resale earlier this year at $63 / point. It even had 150 2001 points. Looks like a "paper gain" of $21 / point, or 33% in one year. Sure beats the stock market this year.

Well, I was glad to receive the email but I don't really need any contact with my guide. I kind of like the fact that the guides just leave you alone! (I don't need anyone else trying to sell me points, I can sell myself on the idea!)

I could have told you the price was going up. We put part of our DVC up for sale last month. Should be closing any day now. I'm sure the buyer is happy.:D
Don't worry any buyers under contract out there.;) I'm a person of my word, no chance of backing out.

On the contrary, sales seem to have slowed down considerably. Earlier in the year it was selling at a rate that suggested selling out by the end of the year or shortly thereafter. If "over 50%" is the best they can say now it is clearly not going to be even close to selling out until well into next year.

In particular I recall 30% late May - early June and 40% early-mid July.

If sales are slowing, why are they raising prices? I would not care to bet against Disney marketing. Perhaps a raise in price stimulates sales! (Hey! It worked for me!) Or more likely, they don't *want* sales to go too fast until they get more inventory online, and want to get more profit out of the sales they do make.

We received the same email from our guide. I think part of the reason for the price hike is to help slow sales a bit. With Saratoga Springs not scheduled to open until early 2004, I'm sure they don't want to be left with nothing to sell. I also think a lot of the initial sales were existing members adding on (I know I was one of them)

We got the same email. That $67 for OKW two years ago (and $75 for BCV just a few months ago) looks really good now!
