I think it sets a terrible example for children.
Completely agree with this. Our county parks banned all tobacco products years ago due to the influence on the children in them.

I say smoke it wherever; an e-cig is not 'smoking' ....I would suggest keeping it outdoors just to minimize any negative interactions.
You are not responsible for the behavior of others that would violate the smoking policies/areas. If someone wants to come up to you and light up a cigarette while you're puffing away on that e-cig, that's their bad...not yours.
/me dons the flame suit to deal with the rabid anti-smokers.

At night most people will probably think the are another glowing toy! They are black with a neon blue glowing tip.

And as far as "it sets a bad example for kids", to me, it's exactly the opposite.
"Mommy, what does that man have?"
"That man has a little machine that is helping him quit smoking. Smoking is very bad for you, and it is VERY hard to quit once you start. Many people who start smoking are never able to quit, but that man is using that machine to help him."
Even if an e-cig user isn't using it to quit, you can explain to your kids that that is what they are doing, and turn it into a lesson about how HARD quitting something like that is, and how it's best to never even start.
Just curious, is there an age requirement on these things?

When looking at the research the other day when I first posted on this thread there was concern that children would look at it as a cigarette even if is healthier than a real one and become addicted to the nicotine. There is currently also studies about marketing it as a device to quite smoking if it actually helps in the quitting process.

Then that's the parent's job to teach the child, not some random stranger's job to not do it in front of your kid. I see people do things in front of my kid every day that I don't want her to do, but it's not my problem that they're doing it, it's my problem that I teach my child my opinion on the behavior.
+1
Don't worry about any potential "dirty looks" or anything else. Disney does not have a policy against it and the only thing you are exhaling is water vapor. It's not harmful to anyone around you.
Where did you see an independent study that it was only water vapor?

I'm just going to say (and I'm sure you'll agree with me Denise) is that this thread has reminded me how much I love living in Michigan, and how fortunate we are to have a non-smoking state![]()

So, I did a little reading on them and mostly what I found is that there are no good definitive independent studies on them to determine if they are harmful or not. That makes sense to me. So, they could potentially pose a risk that is unknown at this time.

However, in reading how they function, it seems highly unlikely that one could reasonably argue that they aren't at least LESS harmful then tobacco cigarettes. So, I'm confused on why people would be especially opposed to them. It would appear that since they are a nicotine delivery system, they warrant further investigation, but it would appear that they are preferable to the alternative of smoking tobacco.
In regard to the original question, I'd contact Disney myself and ask the question. If Disney says they are not restricted to smoking areas, then you have your answer.
