We all know that all Disney parks and resorts are smoke-free and have designated smoking areas. I don't have a problem with that and never smoke outside of those areas.

My question is, I bought one of those electronic cigarettes. The one I got has a blue glowing tip, so it could never be mistaken for a real cig. Just to check it out, I blew a large amount of "smoke" (vapor) in my anti-smoking daughters face close up and she couldnt smell a thing.

Does Disney have a policy regarding these e-cigs? I'd like to know before I go next week.

TIA!

If you want to avoid dirty looks, I would still stick to the designated smoking areas. Many people from a distance will still assume you are smoking.

I say, Stick to the designated areas for the sake of others. If people do not look closely, it looks like a normal cig. and people may assume it is fine to smoke anywhere which is against policy

And just because it does not cause a problem for your daughter how do you know someone with asthma or other health problems would not be bothered.

I think that here the 'toy gun' metaphor shall come in to use.

Would it be acceptable for your children to wave around and play with an airsoft (fake) gun in Disney World? Surely not. Although it is not technically considered a weapon, it would not be tolerated, because it carries with it the assumption of being a weapon.

I think the same thing would apply with the electronic cigarette. It may not be against park policy, but you would most likely be asked to desist by a Cast Member.

I see no problem with it as from my understanding is you are blowing out vapor not smoke so it has 0 impact on my health. I saw a guy using one at great adventure yesterday and no one bothered him and he was outside the smoking area. I would clear it with disney and see what they tell you to do and follow that. Who you ask at disney is another issue. But I see no issue here as there is no health concern with second hand smoke.

You may be getting a weird look or two and may be approached by a cm but if it's allowed then they should be fine with it. Just my 2 cents, i'm a non smoker.

I agree with this. If a smoker sees you from a distance they will just see you smoking a cigarette. Then they may walk over to where you are thinking it is a smoking area and light up. I would stick to the smoking areas at the parks. The resorts might be ok if it is a secluded area but I would still try to stick to the designated areas.

Actually the health risks are still being studied so you have no idea what the impact is on someones health.

I know a couple of people that have been recently and used theirs in the parks. 2 different people, 2 different trips. They each were approached by CMs and were told they couldn't smoke there. Each one told the CM it was electronic and at that point each CM told them OK, and carry on. So it would seem that Disney does not have a policy against them. Of course, using them in the resort room would never be an issue.

Learn how to stealth vape and you can vape anywhere you want.(Without the risk of the stink eye if those sorts of people bother you) Hold the vapor in longer than usual, take an extra breath in through your nose and then exhale slowly. Minimal vapor this way. Enjoy your trip.:goodvibes

I say smoke it wherever; an e-cig is not 'smoking' ....I would suggest keeping it outdoors just to minimize any negative interactions.

You are not responsible for the behavior of others that would violate the smoking policies/areas. If someone wants to come up to you and light up a cigarette while you're puffing away on that e-cig, that's their bad...not yours.

/me dons the flame suit to deal with the rabid anti-smokers.

I am a rabid anti-smoker and it would not bother me at all if someone was vaping next to me or my asthmatic 16 year old. But I am not the only person at WDW, and someone is likely to give you trouble with it.

I agree. I am a smoker and I always smoke in designated areas only. If I see smokers smoking where they are not supposed to I tell them. They give us all a bad name. I just purchased the e-cigs as well and find them great.

I don't care if you use one. But if you're walking around Disney puffing, you should probably expect to be challenged by those who think you are smoking a cigarette, as that is what it looks like you are doing, although you are not.

Just want to congratulate you on using a e-cig and trying to quit smoking!
:confused3 I don't see where she is trying to quit. I believe she just wants the nicotine without the hassle from people who feel she is smoking.

I don't think I have a problem with it. If my kid asks, I'll explain. Easy, peasy.:wizard: But the above poster definitely has a point. If it looks and acts like a cigarette, even though it isn't, people are gonna ask you to put it out, over and over and over and over.

And man, that is just a hassle you don't need at DW.

absolutely this.
As an asthmatic, I can tell you, the craziest things can cause an attack.

Trust me all, I definitely want to quit. This however, is not the right time to do so. As some of you may know, my stepson (like my own) killed himself a week ago last Friday, and I am not in any frame of mind right now to quit. Honestly, it is a stress reliever, not one of which I am proud, but it is what it is.

The e-cig is nothing more than a nicotine delivery system, similar to the patch, gum, or lozenges. What gives it and advantage is for oral-fixated people like me to have the feeling of smoking, without actually inhaling the 300+ other chemicals found in a normal cigarette.

When I blew the vapor in my dd's face, she is asthmatic and felt no adverse affects.

Unless strictly forbidden at Disney parks and resorts, I will use them and explain to anyone who questions me what it is exactly I am using. If someone thinks, just because I take a puff of my e-cig, that it's ok for them to light up, that's their problem, not mine.....

So if you all see someone puff on something that lights up blue (instead of the usual orange) you'll think it's a cigarette??
