e-bayers:best time to list an item?

I want to sell a Jessica McClintock velvet formal dress. I bought it a few years ago and have since lost weight and cannot wear it ( ). I only wore it once and is in perfect condition.

I figure I should list it this fall, as it becomes the proper season to wear it again. I'd like to time it so that those who are looking for a nice dress for a formal Holiday party might see it and hopefully bid it up so I get top dollar. When would be a good time to list it, do you think?

That could get tricky. You want to list it so that the auction will end with plenty of time for the buyer to send their payment and for you to ship the item. Ideally, all this should be over before holiday parties begin. To do this, I would list the item no later than the first week in November.

This would give the buyer a week to 10 days to get the payment to you if they're paying via money order or check. You would then be able to ship the item via first class or priority mail with the item arriving in the buyer's hands by Thanksgiving.

I would start before November 1st. I have already purchased my fall clothes for this year and am now working on my spring clothes for next year (staple items I know will fit/blend.)

Hi, I am listing all my holiday/C'mas clothes the 1st and 2nd week of Oct since people also buy early for C'mas pics and cards.

I would list it Oct. 16th at 8 p.m. your time. How's that for specific? Now you're asking why then? Well I would have suggested Oct 23 but then it would end on Oct 30th and that is Halloween weekend and daylight savings ends that night. Why 8 p.m.? I love ending on Sunday nights and at 8 it's not too late for those on the east coast and not too early for those on the west coast. Next choice would be to list Oct 30 at 8 p.m. which would end on Nov. 6th, but by then some places will already be having holiday parties and chaos abounds when people have to shop, decorate, and party on weekends.
