E-bay ? non paying bidder

Hi there:

I listed a PICK UP ONLY item. It said several times in the listing that it was pick up only in NEW JERSEY. Last Sunday the auction ends and the winner is from Florida. I sent the invoice as I usually do with a note saying that I see they are from Florida but perhaps they have someone local to pick up the item. It is now almost a week later. I have sent several e-mails which have all gone unanswered. My auction also states that payment is due within 3 days of auction end.

What should I do??? Do I file a non paying bidder now, or should I wait?? The bid came in near auction end. Why bid and then disappear?? Also, it is a brand new E-bayer - 0 feedback. I am hoping that the second in line bidder might still be interested and she was from NEW JERSEY. I just don't want to upset the winner if they intend to pay and somehow pick up. I cannot offer shipping for an additional charge because I have been unable to come up with a box that the item will fit in.

Any help/ insight/ suggestions/past experiences would be appreciated!!!

File the NPB now. Notify the person from Jersey that the item is available again. Wait the minimum amount of time allowed after filing the NBP and then give a negative. That person is bad news. Also, if they do not respond to the NBP notice they cannot leave you feedback.

You can't file the NPB until 7 days after the auction ends per eBay rules, but I would file as soon as eBay rules permit. Then you have to wait 8 days to receive a credit of the final value fees and make a second chance offer.

I never understand why people bid and then disappear. What thrill do they get out of messing with other people like that?

I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I'm tired of this happening as well.

I agree with the others who say file the NPB and wait it out & hope for the best. Hopefully when you offer the second chance offer, the next highest bidder will still be interested.
