I told my DH last night how much tickets were going to be for 4 adults and 2 children and he freaked out. We will be there for 5 days but probably will only have 3 days to play at WDW. This is really stressing me out, because I want it to be a fun trip and not have to worry about not doing something special for our kids because of the money.

It's a bummer when you want to go but the prices are too high for afford comfortably, isn't it? That's why we only go once or twice a year... If we could afford it we'd go every other month! LOL

Unfortunately, Disney is not a cheap vacation for most people. My suggestion would be to find every way possible to pare back on the cost and if you still can't swing it and feel good about it then maybe wait til you can? I know I've done things before that I really couldn't "afford"... but did them anyway.. and it just detracted from the experience, KWIM? :guilty:

There's tons of good hints here to help lower the cost of a Disney trip and to help you save for it! Good luck!

How old are your children? Some DIS'ers will have you think that you MUST GO A PARK EVERYDAY, and others will says, 5 days, 2 parks at the most....(I'm in that category). DD5 and DS4 have been to WDW 4 times already and they have never had a bad trip. We go to different resorts for b-fast and dinners, hang around the pool and swim all day and night if we feel like it, watch fireworks from the Poly, or GF - heck even one we rode the monorail and watched them from the entrance way at the MK. It depends on your children's ages, but with the younger ones, its kinda like, just give them a pool and they're happy.

You wrote in your post that you want to do something special for your kids.....IMO taking them to Disney is very special, there are tons and tons of things to do that do not involve the parks or alot of money. Have fun!

It is expensive, no doubt about it. But I also like to think of it this way...where else am I going to be so entertained, all day and into the night? Not just the rides, but the shows, the parades, the fireworks at the end of the day, the priceless look on my ds' face when he sees the characters... It can be truly a magical place.

Have you looked at the Advice, Tips and Tricks for Walt Disney World Tickets and Passes page on Mousesavers? Don't know if there is anything there that will help you save more money but there are some pitfalls to avoid when trying to find discounted tickets so you might want to check it out. It also gives some tips on how to maximize your 1,2, or 3day passes.

hth.

Have you looked into buying tickets from Undercover Tourist or Ticketmania? Would it be possible to invest in longer tickets (since every day you add is cheaper) and purchasing the non-expiring option so that they could be used for a second trip?

At Undercover Tourist the 3-day base adult tickets cost $200 ($66.67 per day). However, if you purchase a 10-day base ticket with the non-expiring option, the cost is $378 ($37.80 per day).

I know it's more money now, but it might allow you to make 2 or 3 trips.

Cheers,
