I am considering buying a Dyson animal vacuum. Are they really worth the money? Anyone out there own one and love or hate it? Please only post if you own/have owned an actual Dyson please! Reviews on other Dysons would be great as well.

I love my dyson, I have a D25 ball, I did not buy the animal, as the only difference is the mini turbine head attachment which I bought on overstock for half the difference in price.

I have a beagle and carpet in my entire house. Its amazing how much hair it picks up, sometimes I have to empty the canister after every room, especially in the summer/ fall when the dog sheds a lot.

I have had mine for almost a year, and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! :)

Thank-you everyone!! Thanks for the tip about Overstock also!! I love that site! I think I almost have DH convinced it's worth it. We seem to go through vacuums like water (every 2-3 years), but I think it's because I've never spent more than $150 on a vacuum before. The suction just doesn't seem to stay as good as when you first purchase it, and I do clean it out every couple weeks. I'm looking forward to finding a vacuum that will last a long time!

YES!! We bought ours 3 years ago and love it. I can't believe how much this thing picks up. When we first got it we had to empty the canister after each room, I felt like I lived in filth :lmao: (and I vacuumed every day since I had a toddler and a newborn).

I waited until I saw it on woot.com for half the price they go for in the stores.

I don't have a Dyson Animal, but I know someone who does. I almost bought one a couple of years ago, but after reading reviews and comparing prices, I decided to get a Bissell Healthy Home vacuum instead. IMO, it works better than hers for picking up the pet hair, dirt, etc. However, it is heavy, which is something to consider if you have to lug it up the stairs like I do.

You will be shocked at the amount that is sucked up by the Dyson. I have the animal. LOVE IT. Have had it for over a year and it is awesome.

Well worth the money.

These reviews are great to hear because we have been looking at buying one as well.

We have the same problem with the lack of suction in our other vaccums.

I have the animal and LOVE it. I actually bought the floor model at Best Buy for $175!!!

If you husband needs convincing......do you know anyone who owns a Dyson? If so, borrow it. Vacuum a room with your own vacuum and immediately vacuum with the Dyson. You will be amazed at what didn't get picked up the first time.:scared1:

110% YES!!! I LOVE our Dyson. It was the best money we have ever spent on any appliance. After I vacuum and empty it. I always think that our dog should be bald for all the hair that I vacuum up :)!

Love it! :goodvibes. Totoally worth the $. I got mine at Kohls w/ a 30% of coupon.

I love mine! I also got it at Kohl's with a 30% off coupon. I seriously couldn't believe all the dirt in what I thought were clean carpets.

I'm about to do the same this week. I have the 30% coupon and starting on the 10th I'll get Kohl's cash too. So here's the deal. Dyson Animal on sale for $549. So I get it for $385 with the discount and $70 in Kohl's cash. I don't think it'll get better than that! Other than one of those great floor model deals!

We have had our Dyson Animal going on 4 years now. It is a great vacum, works very well for picking up dog hair. I could not belive how many times we had to empty it when we first bought it. We had a Kirby prior to the Dyson which I had always thought were to be very good vacums, we spent more on the Kriby then the Dyson.

The alergy and asthma version I believe is the same as the animal it is a little cheaper just does not come with the tools that the Animals does. After we bought our my parents, brother and in-laws shortly went ought and bought one as well.

I bought mine at the time at Bed Bath and Beyond as was able to use a 20% off coupon on it.

I have had the Dyson Animal for 3 years now. I bought it because we have two labs and lots of fur! I vacumned with my Kenmore before the Dyson and honestly didn't get that much more dirt up. So I guess it depends on what you had before as to how great you think it is. I also thought the attachment for the animal hair would work for the van, but it didn't work much better than if you just used a hard brush like it has on it.
My complaint is the attachments are not the easiest to use. Steps are hard since we have 14 steps and it reaches 13 with a stretch! I do like the bagless feature as I went thru a ton of bags before. It was too heavy to carry up the stairs so I bought a Hoover Elite (cheap) and it does pretty much the same and I don't think the Dyson is 5X better (which is what the cost difference was. The Dyson did leave cornrow marks on my plush carpet but not on the Berber. Try one before you buy if you have a friend who has one. I'm in the minority but I probably wouldn't buy another one. Target has the Dyson Ball clearanced for $269, not sure what the regular price was.

LOL!!! That is what is making me consider buying one! LOVE kohl's sales!!

We have the animal one and I think it is great. DH and I went through three fairly good vacuums in three years before buying the Dyson and I wish we had just bought the Dyson to begin with. Personally I think they are amazing.

I have they Dyson Animal for about 2 years and absolutely LOVE IT! If it broke tomorrow I would not hesitate to spend the money again. I will never own another vacuum. I have 2 big hairy dogs and let me tell you the amount of stuff the vacuum picks up it makes me feel like my home is dirty and I vacuum everyday because of the dogs.

We have two of the animal versions and while I love the older model, I'm undecided about the one I bought a month or so ago. I found it at Target for new in box for 50% off, so it was $275+tax. Right out of the box there was a broken spring in the part that holds the extendable rod, so the handle won't latch down onto the main vacuum cleaner. If I try to vacuum without the cord being wrapped around once or twice, the two pieces separate. It was the only one left at any Target in the area, (and I really wanted to keep it) so I called Dyson and they sent out a new handle. 2 weeks later, the new handle arrived. This one doesn't even have the spring to lock the handle down onto the vacuum and has the same exact problem. DH can see what the problem is with the locking mechanism, but can't seem to get it to work. And quite honestly, for a $600 vacuum, he shouldn't be having to do repairs straight out of the box.

I'm going to call and try and get another handle sent out. DH is using our older one at his work apartment and I can make do with this one. It's just disappointing considering how much I liked the older model. I expected more.
