My 10yo DD has been diagnosed with a reading disability when she was quite young. She does get services for it at school and makes progress although she is still pretty delayed in reading / writing.
She's prefers to read with the book upside down. Says it is easier for her. She has read to me this way and does seem to do a little better, can't really explain it but I don't care how she holds the book if it works for her.
She got a check mark today from the teacher because she was told to read and had the book upside down. I asked if she argued or anything she says not but sometimes I get a different story from the teacher so I'm not 100% sure the check mark was only for the upside down book or because she didn't follow instructions when asked to correct it.
Should I send a note to the teacher or just wait until we have a conference? They've only been in school a week and I like to have a conference towards the beginning of the year so will be scheduling one soon.
