I have never heard of this before, and after going to my doctor yesterday for small blisters on my hand and foot this is the tentative diagnosis she gave me. She gave me a prescription for steroid cream and referred me to a dermatologist - I can't get an appointment for 2 weeks and I'm wondering about this! Has anybody been diagnosed with this, and what can I do to alleviate the symptoms? From what I have read it's chronic and there's really nothing to keep these little blisters from popping up when they want to. Thanks!

Had it for years. I just use OTC cortisone cream. Mine tends to flare up when I'm stressed and goes away within a few days. It's not necessarily painful, but very itchy! Hope you get some relief soon!

Thank you! It helps to hear that it only lasts for a few days, hopefully mine will go away that quickly too.

Meh. Had it all my life and didn't know it had a 'name' til now. Showed it to a doctor in the UK years ago and he was like 'its itchy not life threatening' and I was good with that.

I'll just carry on and live with it rather than spend money on specialists and putting on steroid creams.

I make sure I wear rubber gloves when handling cleaning products as that can irritate it.

I get it from time to time. Stay away from the water, esp. hot water.

Wear gloves for everything. Buy some food gloves, plastic gloves, cotton gloves, garden gloves, cleaning gloves, dishes gloves, etc...You get the picture.

You need to first and foremost keep chemicals/water off your hands and feet.

If you are mopping the floor or cleaning the shower in chemicals have to wear some kind of foot protection.

Spraying a little Windex or some other cleaner just to wipe a spill? Stop and put gloves on first.

Food Prep esp with meat, wear food gloves for your own protection.

Usually when I take precautions and then use the steriod cream SPARINGLY it will heal.

Have to watch the use the steriod cream because it does thin the skin so overuse will cause the skin to rip easier.

Stop the antibacterial soaps and get Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser while you heal.

Anyway that is my strategy for when "eczema attacks".;)

Right now I am fighting the corner of my lip. GAK. As long as I follow good procedure I can heal it.:scratchin

Thanks again for the replies. Mystery Machine, thanks so much for all the tips. I am going to do as you suggest and switch to Cetaphil soap and get plenty of rubber gloves.

I have it too but only recently discovered it had a proper name, I just always thought of it as my "stress rash"! I don't bother with creams, just the occasional antihistamine if it's really annoying. I don't think I'm particularly highly-strung but my hands sometimes tell me otherwise!

I have it on my right foot only. lol It comes up when I'm very stressed. I've had it ever since my husband deployed. I have a steroid cream that usually works, but the new stuff I just got from my doc isn't working. I need to get something else because the itching is driving me nuts.
