Dying Laughing!! Resort Guests on 5/22 Take Note!

This afternoon, my DH brings in the mail - We have one lone piece of mail . . . from Disney World . . . in an envelope . . . on which is printed - "For Your Future Enjoyment".

I immediately start jumping up & down & squealing, "It's a code! It's a code!"

Then I open the letter . . .

At the top of our letter in huge, colorful, happy-happy letters are the words, "For Your Future Enjoyment" w/ bright, colorful stars all round the border.

Please take note of the words "Future Enjoyment".

The letter then reads [bolded emphasis is mine] - -

Dear Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground Guest,

We are delighted you have selected the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgroud as your vacation destination. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

We are please to be hosting the 2nd Florida Half Ironman Triathlon sporting event at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground on May 22, 2005. There will be approximately 2,500 athletes competing in this world-class event, participating in a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, as well as a 13.1 mile run. Most of the event course is scheduled to occur within the general vicinity of our resort, resulting in traffic delays as well as some roads being closed completely or operating under traffic restrictions with alternate routes established for entrance into Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground on this day. Please note that there will be Cast Members positioned along select roadways near the resort as well as visible signage to help direct our Guests.

If you are traveling to the resort prior to 9:00 am on May 22nd, please check-in at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. From approximately 6:30 am - 1:00 pm, guests will have limited access to the main entrance of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. We anticipate returning to regular traffic flow through the resort's main entrance beginning around 4:00 pm.

There may be opportunities to view the competitors throughout the day at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground; please check with our Front Desk staff upon check-in for more information . . .

Guess What?! We are scheduled to check-in at our cabin on . . . drum roll please . . . May 22nd!

We won't be there before 9:00 am (which would have been kind of neat to get to check out the WL), since we were planning to leave St. Augustine around lunchtime to be at FW at check-in time - 3:00 pm.

I appreciate Disney sending me the letter, really I do. I'm laughing because of the words "Future Enjoyment"! I mean, really . . . My Future Enjoyment? Maybe "My Future Inconvenience" . . . .

Gotta love the magic of Disney!

And they are supposed to add to your enjoyment Oh Brother!

We were at WDW last year during the Iron Man. Honestly it didn't have that much of an effect on us. Sure, we saw them running (sections of roads were blocked as well as areas of the MK parking lot. The swim aspect of the course was taking place in Bay Lake.) It was actually really interesting to see. It didn't inconvieience us in any way, and MK didn't seem that crowded despite the thousands of competitors and their families. I wouldn't sweat over it too much, we barely even noticed it.

Here I was snickering because all we have received form them lately was a letter welcoming us to the passholder family (no Mickey Monitor though ) And today a card telling me that we will receive a free vacation if we visit Saratoga Springs and buy in! "Free" means different things to us, it's not free if you have to drop $15K on a time share to receive the vacation!

Oh, I got that one, too!!! Yup, not a free trip if you listen to a timeshare talk, but "Free, if you buy"!

I got that same letter today!!!! We leave the WL on the 23rd, so at least it will be towards the end of our stay. I'm glad to hear that it hasn't really affected most people's trips though.....I don't think I'll be bothered by anything too much though......I'm going to Disney World!!!! I soooooo need this trip, lol!

We were there last year when this was happening it wasn't that bad at all..They did have tents by the marina set up for the runners to grab the their gear for the next portion of the race and roads were blocked off but nothing major.

How funny!! I just received a "For Your Future Enjoyment" letter also but ours is for the Vero Beach resort. I was also laughing hysterically when ours stated, "we will be conducting reconstruction work to the roof of the Inn building during your scheduled vacation". ......"you many also see construction vehicles and scaffolding around the Inn building". All the while reading also, I'm thinking hmmmmm, my future enjoyment???? If this isn't the most Disney title to a letter, I don't know what is!!!!! Oh well, I couldn't cared less about this and probably wouldn't of even noticed while there but now I will definitely take notice!!

I heard about this event! Great huh? We arrive May 20 - and are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Have not received a letter yet...maybe it won't affect us at WL?

not that it concerns me BUT what if you are checking into FW that day and have to pull a 25 foot travle trailer....how do you get to your site and get set up?

We booked GF RPC room for our anniversary last year..the night of joy was that weekend in the MK. Well, between the concerts themselves, and then the bands practicing..at full volumne mind you until between 5 and 6 am every morning we had some very sleepless nights.

We got a letter in the room, last night of the event apologizing, but oh well deal with it letter, lol. I am sure they had many complaints.

The Iron Man usually doesn't cause any inconvenience to the guests. Some of the back roads that castmembers use are blocked off, though. I really don't expect that it will affect anyone's stay, or time in the parks. Have a great time!

That's funny you mention this! My DH and I thought we were the only ones bothered by this. It was a few years back(like 9 years) and we had a beautiful view of Cinderella's castle and front row seats to the Night of Joy...noise!

No letter during our stay but I think it was in the beginning of them doing this...
