As most of you do, we create a dining spreadsheet for each trip. Since last year, we have really embraced cooking in our villa, and find it makes for a more relaxing vacation, and also saves us tons of money!

Since we go for 2 week summer vacations, we find that at least 1 TS meal per day works very well, as it allows us to take a break from the stifling heat. So we will eat most breakfasts in our villa, except for Cape May and Tusker House, and then switch between lunches and dinners, based on the restaurants we have chosen. This will save a ton of money!

This year, we have settled on DxDP for 2 nights over our 2 week trip, as it's the best deal for us as we want to do some character meals for the kids. Since we are under peak season prices, the character buffets are outrageously priced, so using TIW was just too expensive.

Was considering TIW for the remaining TS meals, but it's not necessary, as we have a few discounts to use (Safari Club, AP & DVC), and we don't drink alcohol, so paying cash is just fine. For the first time ever, we will be skipping WDW next year, as we are doing Vero and DCL, so don't need TIW for that either, so this year, we are not renewing.

I am a bit concerned about the DP issues as of late, but we'll see what happens. I will report back about how it worked out for us!

Only a few more weeks to go!

Tiger :)

We plan on eating out of the Disney bubble quite a bit this year. We have a 10 nighter coming up in August. We have TIW, but probably won't use it that much. It's not that we can't afford to eat at WDW, it's just a moral issue with the pricing (I think the sitdowns are wayyyyy to high for what you get).

Happy eating! We don't venture off property to eat, despite having our car, as we just find the whole traffic thing is a bit much in the stifling summer heat.

We are eating most of our TS meals at very reasonably priced restaurants for lunch, like Plaza and Kona, so that's a big savings there.

Kids really enjoy character meals, so for this trip, it's worth it to do the DxDP for a couple of days.

Have a great trip, Tiger :)

CONGRATS enjoy.

I find TIW as well, not that great of a value. Unless you do mostly TS, and not high end ones, or and drink alot. AP works at most places, and you have to pay a ton of $$ for the card. I think if it was 35$ they would get more buy in.

I love the new DP for DVC, I do DDP just over 1 out of 3 days, and throw in a DP or QSDP once in a while and this works out perfect. I also will not pay 40$ for a buffet, even with the TIW, it is either DP/DDP or off site now. The cost of Cape May, Norway with the princess, or 1900 affair is just way out of line. The new pick a day, allows for the most expensive on the plan, and reasonable priced off the plan.

Just wanted to say have a good time, let us know where ya eat 'n your thoughts on the DP.

bottom line is that the DDP will work best for some, and TIW for others.
we found doing the DDP for a few days of our vaca the best for us.
nightly DDP was too much food, and we felt TIW forced us to eat more onsite to get the value out of the card (we normally go as 2 ppl - light eaters, rarely drink except grey goose slushies which are not covered:rolleyes1). we rarely broke even with TIW.
when we go as a larger group (7-8 ppl), the TIW is great, otherwise the DDP for a few days is the clear winner for us :)
